Hi, Looking for a Champions or GURPS game for January 2026

I have played both before, more Champions than GURPS and would like to get back into it. I won't really be free until mid to late January (I think) so I thought I would begin my quest now! Here is a character that I played in a Teen Champions / Champions game back in the day.  Power Ring Player:  Val Char Cost 13 STR 3 18 DEX 24 15 CON 10 15 BODY 10 18 INT 8 18 EGO 16 18 PRE 8 20 COM 5 3/33 PD 0 3/33 ED 0 2 SPD 0 6 REC 0 30 END 0 30 STUN 0 6" RUN 0 2" SWIM 0 2 1/2" LEAP 0 Characteristics Cost: 84 Cost Power Power Ring, all slots OIF (Focus-Power Ring; -1/2), Limited Power: Does not work vs <u>Wood</u> (-1/2), Limited Power If Power Pool Charge has not expired (-1/4) 40 1)  FF (30 PD/30 ED), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (90 Active Points); OIF (Focus-Power Ring; -1/2), Limited Power: Does not work vs <u>Wood</u> (-1/2), Limited Power If Power Pool Charge has not expired (-1/4) 13 2)  LS  (Immunity All terrestrial diseases and biowarfare agents; Safe Environment: Zero Gravity; Safe in High Pressure; Safe in High Radiation; Safe in Intense Cold; Safe in Intense Heat; Safe in Low Pressure/Vacuum; Self-Contained Breathing) (30 Active Points); OIF (Focus-Power Ring; -1/2), Limited Power: Does not work vs <u>Wood</u> (-1/2), Limited Power If Power Pool Charge has not expired (-1/4) 26 Flight 15", Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (45 Active Points); OIF (Focus-Power Ring; -1/2), Limited Power If Power Pool Charge has not expired (-1/4) 130 Variable Power Pool, 75 base + 55 control cost, 1 Recoverable Continuing Charge lasting 1 Day (+0), Cosmic (No skill roll, no time to change; +2) (186 Active Points); all slots OIF (Focus-Power Ring; -1/2), Limited Power: Does not work vs <u>Wood</u> Power loses about a third of its effectiveness (-1/2) Powers Cost: 209 Cost Skill 3 High Society 13- 3 Persuasion 13- 3 Seduction 13- 2 AK: High School Student <b><u>Hangouts</u></b> 11- 2 AK: High School Student <b><u>High End Stores</u></b> 11- <hr>Everyman Skills 0 1)  CK: Home City  8- 0 2)  Acting 8- 0 3)  Climbing 8- 0 4)  Computer Programming 8- 0 5)  Concealment 8- 0 6)  Conversation 8- 0 7)  Deduction 8- 0 8)  Language:  Native Language (idiomatic) (4 Active Points) 0 9)  PS: Hobby: Gardening 11- 0 10) Paramedics 8- 0 11) Persuasion 8- 0 12) Shadowing 8- 0 13) Stealth 8- 0 14) TF:  Everyman Skill, Small Motorized Ground Vehicles 0 15) WF:  Clubs, Fist-Loads, Thrown Rocks, Unarmed Combat Skills Cost: 13 Cost Perk 1 Fringe Benefit<table border="1"><tr><td>Fashion Statement</td><td> London, Paris, Milan</td></tr><tr><td>Report Card</td><td> Just fine not that grades matter</td></tr><tr><td>Dating</td><td> An older guy who goes to a private school or a Jock with Wealthy Parents</td></tr><tr><td>Career Outlook-best case</td><td> Heiress</td></tr><tr><td>Career Outlook-worst case</td><td> Family loses all their money in the stock market</td></tr><tr><td>Likes</td><td>Summering in Europe, anything expensive (the more the better)</td></tr><tr><td>Dislikes</td><td>The poor, the tacky, and the offensive</td></tr></table>:  Clique Membership: Princess 10 Money:  Wealthy Perks Cost: 11 Cost Talent 9 Striking Appearance: +3  ([versus all characters] <br>Provides +3 on Interaction Skills and +3D6 with Presence Attacks. HI TAC. I've made Champions campaigns part of my old gaming groups going back to earlier editions of it. Had long successful campaigns face to face with personal friends mostly. But after all this time I want to get back to Supers style stuff. Champs and other crunchy supers systems es seem unfit for breezy online gaming. But I recently found that the Roll20 and Demiplane connection with Marvel Mulitiverse rpg is pretty outstanding. I do not love the system like I do Hero System/Champs, but it seems doable and is well supported online. Easy character creation on Demiplane. Plus I can share all the materials etc. It seems my best bet for great comic book gaming online and maybe it could be yours as well. I am in no rush to get started do to current commitments and needing to study the system etc, so maybe our timelines can add up. And I probably need a good amount of time to gather interested parties, but you might be a good start! I think Champions might be hard to find online, but if you are willing to try a system with a GM who ran a lot of Champs then maybe you could find satisfaction with your character ideas in a system that would be a little smoother of an experience than some other systems folk try online. So PM me if you want to talk more! BTW like the character! Cheers,  Kevin Mac
I have dipped my toes in a few gaming systems with Champions being my favorite and GURPS being something that I basically understand and can follow.  Let me know more about Demiplane, I am happy to expand my knowledge!
Oh, a couple more things, I use Discord for my game chats. Hopefully that is okay but I am willing to explore other chat options. My computer is an older one so i don't know if it has the 'mustard' to handle more current or state of the art applications.
I use Discord for voice and Roll20 with maps and tokens and such. But I try to k eep things easy peasy. Demiplane basically is a good place to create a character. It's very much like Charactermanser for DnD and fairly robust. So it is a basically just a good tool to use with Roll20. characters can be saved from Demiplane to Roll20 journal as well.  I would say take a look at a reviews or other short info videos on youtube for Mavel Multiverse rpg to get a feel for if you might like its functionality and game engines. The official material and many youtube bits lean heavy into the look and feel of modern Marvel and my setting is a somewhat dystopian future Marvel reality where most classic characters would be dead or gone, though "legacy" characters could be a thing. The Island nation of Haven is actually a place full of ancient magic and technologies and is a focus point that makes anything possible more or less. Gateway to from there and there.
Yeah, my group did the same thing. Discord for voice and Roll20 for maps and stuff. I am familiar with GURPS and have a general working knowledge of Hero games, older editions anyway. Not so.much 6th Edition. Otherwise I am not a Guru about any game system. Does Demiplane work for Super Heroes gaming or is it sword and sorcery gaming? I guess what I'm asking is what kind of game would it be? Sword and sorcery, Pulp adventure, modern RP, or science fiction? I guess you said Marvel Dystopian but I'm trying to wrap my pathetic brain around what kind of character / world to envision. Sorry if I'm being dense.
My setting evolved from my childhood supers campaigns into a pacific island nation once part of the US but in the early 2000's WW3 wrecked some of the world (US, China, Russia, some other places) and now decades later is a high tech world leader with allies in Japan, Hong Kong (now a sovereign nation) and the European Commonwealth lead the world. The island nation of Haven is a democracy (real power is the corporations), world leader in technology, but also a place of ancient curses and supernatural goings on. It is sort of a weirdness magnet where anything or anyone from any galaxy or dimension or alternate really might visit.  The post apoc and dystopian aspects of the setting really sprung from old sci fi nuclear apocalypse novels and such, the "Day of future past" future of Marvel Comics, and my own homebrewed notions of that is possible. Which can be anything.  My Haven which is cyberpunk and future noir (Blade Runner) in style and tone, but I pretty much ran campaigns of two groups. One was Protecors, a mostly government approved supergroup, and also Justice Inc, a corporate sponsered "Heroes for Hire" which is perfect for classic supers characters but also less tropy cape and boots  types like skilled modern cowboys, ninjas, Field Hackers(these have all been characters from the past), and anything from any genre really. Powered enough to deal with street level and some higher powered stuff, but not "big league" characters...yet.
Okay, I don't have the demi-plane rules so I don't know how to start building my character. Are you available to help? Now? Are these going to be superhero type adventures where you're defending your fellow man from evil predators? Or is it more like heroes of vengeance you know dark Champions? Or is it more like Shadow run where you're just trying to elk out Fame, Fortune and survive in the dirty streets of a failing society?  I'm interested enough that I want to start putting together a character concept and a character background to go the character from!  I've heard the phrase show me the men and I'll show you the crime. But in this case help me with a motive and I can start working on a character!  How many people are in the campaign? Will I be joining a pre-established group or are we boating something from the ground up?  So many questions. Again I'm sorry if I'm being a pest.
I always thought that hero systems, Champions, and GURPS were quite popular but it seems that that is not the case at least on Roll20. They are the systems that I am most familiar with, but if other systems are more popular, I am not so rigid that I cannot expand my area of interest.  What kind of game systems are most popular around here? Maybe we can lure some more people to the dark side of the force and have them explore Champions and gurps with us!
This sounds pretty cool. I have not been involved with a superhero theme ttrpg in a long while. I ran a Champions 4e campaign many years ago, as well as a Marvel Advanced Super Heroes (FASERIP) game. I tried Mutants and Masterminds 3e and loved the system, but found no players wanting to spin it up. I have never used GURPS for supers, but have all the books for it. I have always wanted to dabble in something akin to Aaron Allston's "Strike Force"; the methods used to run that campaign are simply fantastic. I am willing to learn more about this plan being discussed. What would the world setting be like? Would it align more to traditional comic book supers (Spider-Man/Avengers), or lean towards "The Boys", or Gotham City/Batman street level antics?
Cool questions! It is kinda what I meant to ask but I fumbled the words like a bar of soap in the bathtub! GURPS has great world and source books!
Is Champions, GURPS, or other system decided yet? GURPS does have some great source books on most everything. But I think Champions handles the supers genre better, unless this is more gritty like Batman/The Boys kind of setting (my opinion only, of course). I can work with most anything lol. Keep brainstorming!
Mac Mostly is the GM and as for the rest IDK.
Mac Mostly and I talked about Demiplane. I don't think it is a game system in of itself but a tool to build characters across multiple platforms. There is a link at the bottom of this page that I've never followed but plan to after this post!
Hello, just checking in to see if any interest has spiked. I guess game systems are optional in case anyone cares to invite me in  :(
ive been looking for a DM and group to run a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen style of game using GURPs system, if there is interest i can talk to you more about what i had in mind.
Have not been able to post lately, but I am still interested. Waiting to see what comes up with this. Can always begin with a small group and work up.
I'm sorry, it seems like I only get on about once a week (usually on the weekends). I'm interested in the League game and others! Tell me more about what you have in mind (please). Runic I haven't given up on anything!
No problem and i hope everything is alright.  Basically is a game where literary or TV/Movie heroes take center stage in a shared universe (Excluding comic heroes from the big two as to not make it too OP). It can be anyone from Harry Potter to Doctor Who. Gathering together to form a team to take on those threats that no single hero can take it alone. It can use the GURPs system or the CHAMPIONS system.
What year? I am familiar with the movie with Sean Connery and that's about it. Knowing the period will help define what characters are available. Y'know like Red Sonja, Pocahontas, Elizabeth Bathory, and the like. A mermaid would be like a fish out of water in most cases but a witch who casts spells might be useful. Sorry, just letting my mind wander.

no need to be sorry, on the contrary if more mind wanderers were around the world could be a better place :)  As for the year, it would be up to you or the DM. it can be in modern day or even in early 20th Century, the original setting it is based on. If you like comics i can recommend you the comics it is based on since it is a  much much MUCH   better version of the story, it covers even more elements like War of the Worlds, Godzilla and views on past teams that include Zorro, Arsene Lupin and even Mary Poppins.
The power that Mary Poppins has may be impressive, but she's a little more prudish than I would see my character being. I'd like to have a character who has some abilities or saving grace or special niche to fill All the ones from literature that I can think of have been guys. Tarzan Dr. Jekyll, or doc Sampson. I don't see myself playing a 'strong jawed hero'. I'm sure you understand. If you have any suggestions for me, I'd like to look them up!
If the game is like Champions I should be able to cobble something together otherwise I will need help, maybe a lot of it  My old GM told me about GURPS bulletproof nudity rule and build a Champions version of that advantage just for me! Nice of him, wasn't it? ;)
We would probably need a GM and fellow players as well. If you have anyone in mind you can let them know.
