Great job on the new 5e character sheet. Even my most adamant DNDBeyond players who try it generally prefer it, but most of my DNDBeyond players haven't tried it or haven't tried it in the current iteration. It would be awesome if there was a script to import their characters directly from a public DNDBeyond online character sheet or PDF so they could instantly try their character from a Roll20 sheet.
Yes, do it.
I'm also a pro GM & software engineer & I totally agree with Animancy.  It's a really good character sheet, finally better than DnDBeyond, but it needs convenient import-export functions.  I could enumerate the required formats but I'll leave it to your devs.   Please add import-export functions!
Hi folks. Just about to run my first online game and hit a snag immediately. We've been playing a game with another GM for some time and a few of the players want to bring their PCs over to the game I'm about to start. Problem is, the character sheets are in D&D Beyond and I want to use the Roll20 2024 character sheets for my game.  I can see how to export D&D Beyond character sheets to PDF's but I can't see how to export them another way or import them to the new game I'm setting up in Roll 20.  Anyone know how to do this, or even if it's possible? I'm gathering from the other comments here it isn't and I might just have to create them manually myself but hey - thought I'd as first. :-) Thanks for any help.

It should be possible to write a script to allow importing from any sheet to any other sheet, but this is not a trivial task. An interface would need to be created for each pair of sheets, and would be a lot of work for the creator. A DnD Beyond -> Roll20 5e sheet seems like it would have some users*, so maybe someone should create that, but until they do, the only way is to manually create characters on roll20. *This already has one significant hurdle: it's not possible to load sheets made for other platforms in roll20, and it's not possible to load roll20 sheets outside of roll20, so you'd need some kind of export from DnDBeyond that you could import into roll20, and then be able to interact with that export. And that's just to get started.
