[LFP] [D&D 5e] [21+] [7pm CST, day is up for discussion] Seeking players for a long-term RP-heavy campaign themed on one city and exploring the labyrinth beneath it (3rd party & homebrew allowed)

Prologue: The kingdom of Brynnhaven is a beacon for adventurers the world over. Within the city's walls lies intrigue, wonder, and treasure beyond any commoner's wildest imagination. While the danger is great, thrill-seekers and treasure-hunters from across the lands venture here to test their mettle against the many threats in an attempt to strike it rich, become renown for their strength & bravery, perhaps a wizard seeking deeper arcane secrets than a school can provide, or seeking something more specific or personal. Whatever the circumstances, many travel to this city with the intent to explore the dungeon beneath at great risk to their safety. Our story takes place within the kingdom of Brynnhaven. You are an intermediate adventurer, someone who has begun to make a name for themself and is absolutely not a novice, but is not a renown hero. You were either born in Brynnhaven or have traveled to this kingdom, and are seeking something. Be it fame, fortune or something near & dear to your heart, the dungeon beneath the city --and areas surrounding the city-- draw you to them. On your own, you could be capable enough to handle traveling without companions. You could be extremely knowledgeable on how to survive without aid. You could be an academic or a healer who is used to solitude. Regardless of how capable you are, it is common knowledge, and frequent advice from locals, the dungeon is far too dangerous to traverse alone. All but the most stalwart warriors that try to venture in without trustworthy allies meet a gruesome end. And thus, you find yourself in the most famous tavern in the world, "The Slayer's Pint", the starting point of so many great heroes that have come before you. Your goal: Find a reasonable benefactor and, most importantly, a party join with or form that you can rely upon to achieve your goals. Session Information: Weekly sessions, starting at 7pm CST (-5 GMT) and running for 3-4 hours, depending on what the group decides. The group will decide what day of the week we play on. The only day off-limits is Friday. Start date is uncertain right now. Once the group is full, and we know which day we'll be playing, we'll likely start as soon as everyone is ready. Please be aware this could be several weeks, although hopefully we'll be ready without a large wait. Game Information: A serious & RP-heavy campaign, with light-hearted moments, set within an evolving city with an emphasis on collective storytelling where decisions matter...and there are real consequences, for better or worse, for your actions. Large focus put on party members getting to know one another, forging deep bonds, and roleplaying amongst themselves when in the dungeon and city. NPCs who have their own personalities and stories, not just vendors to sell you things or give you the information you seek automatically. A deep and ever-changing labyrinth that seems like it has a will of its own. Intense, deadly encounters that will have you feeling your mortality while presenting players with many more options for customization than most campaigns, and promoting teamwork to survive. Several custom mechanics and not often used variant rules to give the campaign a more unique feel. All official and third-party content allowed. Homebrew will be allowed, but reviewed. The chance to reach 20th level, and possibly beyond, with interesting magic and homebrew items along the way. Open to both new and veteran players. A GM that focuses on supporting players throughout the adventure in any way possible, whose only goal is to ensure the players enjoy their time at the table! About me and my GM style: My name is Jordan. I love GMing and put a lot of time and effort into it. GMing for many years across numerous multi-year campaigns. Excel at improvising, but am typically thoroughly prepared for sessions. Tend to stick to the rules as they are in the books, but often lean into the rule of cool when it fits. Also, I try my best to be fair and even in my rule interpretations, typically leaning in favor of players when something is ambiguous, seems unfair or leans to a lackluster result. Will dedicate as much time as necessary to help players with a problem, whether it's making their character, a rule question, or to set up some sort of story path. Do my best to have pretty battlemaps for encounters (and exploration), music and sound effects to set the mood; as well as giving NPCs different voices, I don't see my role as being adversarial to the party. I'm here to provide the best and most immersive experience to my players as possible. I set up encounters, plot beats to follow (or not!) and the party can do whatever they wish from there. Whether they choose to tackle them directly or find some alternative method of doing things, or simply avoid a particular story thread in favor of something completely different. I offer options, choices, I never tell players what they have to do. I also rarely tell a player 'No' outright, generally leading with a 'Yes, but...' or a 'You can try'. Checklist to have before applying: You are a mature adult human in control of your free time. You are able to commit to a specific 3-4 hour timeframe on the same day of every week (barring an emergency). You speak English well enough to be understood by others easily. You have a decent microphone so others can hear you with no issue, and a computer that can display the virtual tabletop without problems with shadows, weather, animations and other effects. You are excited to participate in collective storytelling and be an active participant in the game. Players that will sit on the sidelines and simply "watch" the game and story unfold shouldn't apply. You are interested in crafting a deep character with a rich backstory who will evolve over the course of the campaign. More than just a "He's a fighter that wants to become rich". I will work with each player to create where their character is from. You enjoy the idea of exploring a dungeon and taking part in dramatic, deadly battles where the stakes are high. As a player, you want to be given the chance to be the heroes of the story, regardless of whether that is your character's goal. You don't need to have experience with D&D 5e, though it will help you make valuable and informed decisions!  New players to 5e or TTRPGs are welcome, provided everything above rings true! When responding, think about your schedule and list every day you could be available at game time (7pm CST/-5 GMT) if you have enough notice. Tell me about your TTRPG experience, what you love most in a campaign and the basics of any character ideas you may have, if any so far. If interested, just send me a DM and we can chat to see if you're going to be a good fit. Please give me time to respond. I know there are a lot of players at any given moment seeking 5e campaigns.

I started with dnd 5e 6 or 7 years ago and played for a while until I had a break of a couple of years until recently, playing other systems like Call of Cthulhu or Blades in the dark. I want to get back to the roots so to speak. Just wanna have a good time with decent people.

I'm curious, are you wanting to run the 2014, or 2024 5e rules as your base? as a Forever DM for the last 7 years or so, i would love a consistent chance to play on the other side of the screen for once. I have most evenings other than TUE or WED available (I DM games on those days). Ive actually been theory crafting a ... what i think is an interesting take on a paladin as far as how i would want to model their oath / belief system, based on the morality system from the old game Ultima IV. (sorry keep thinking of things to write) as for experience, I've run or played in games since 1998, played from 2nd to current edditions of D&D, DM'ed from 3.5 onward, and participated in the RPGA as a registered Judge for 8 years (helped to run sanctioned play games in game stores).
Hello I would be interested in joining your campaign if you've got space for me. Not sure the best way to reach out on Roll20 cause I've never used the forums page, mostly use it just for the maps. I'm a semi experienced player that is looking to play more spell caster classes as I mostly play martials.
