So I homebrew a level 20 Boss Battle: 3 bosses in separate battles. I had a Dungeon Master run it who is really good at running high level battles. Each of the monsters were 2025 CR23 monsters. Strictly 2024 rules for the first time. 4 Players with DnD experience played I expected the adventure to take 2-3 session of 4 hours each (guessed at 1 session per boss minimum, as past boss battles took up to 9 hours) I wrote the adventure text and designed the adventure Requirements of Playing: Only use 2024 rules and content Only use Roll20...not DnDB Goals: See how well the 2024 sheet functioned in full use See how the 2024 rules were to play Expose the picky 2014 players to the 2024 rules and sheet Results: The players had a real blast. There was a LOT of laughing and fun. Use of the character sheets, as expected, took some getting used to...but the players mostly got into it. With the Beyond20 plugin to use rolls from DnDB, there was always lag. Using the 2024 sheets in Roll20 had no lag...but...there were a couple instances when the sheets errored for individual players and they had to refresh. When we hit the 4 hour mark, all of the players wanted to keep going for another hour...because of this, I think we can complete the adventure in 2 session instead of 3. The fact that they enjoyed it so much made me proud...I admit it. We ended at 5 hours, and they defeated the second CR23 boss in that time. No long rest had been taken, and it was an option...even though the wizard badly wanted one (he was totally in character and it was hilarious) . The Roll20 Character sheet needs further development. One must have is for the Spells to actually show the duration of a spell. This is something that is 100% necessary to know when using the spells. Currently, you can only find the duration by clicking the edit button for the spell. Listen to the Audio All in all, it was a very fun session. I worked in the background while the other DM ran things. I was making tokens and handouts on the fly as needed. (for example, the wizard used Shield and said it was a big middle finger, so I created a reusable token for it). I work with this DM on one of my homebrewed campaigns, and we work well together. I like to write (published). I do run games though.
