Brand New and Excited Player Looking to Play DnD 3.5 or 5

Hello everyone, I've gotten the bug to start playing DnD after seeing a few streams on Twitch of people using roll20 and other websites to do it over skype. I've always wanted to play but didn't know about these online communities. I've been talking to a GM about joining a long term campaign but it may take weeks before that gets started. I've been reading the 3.5 player book and I think I know the basics and have a character/backstory completed. Please let me know if you're interested in getting. 29 y.o. stable job hours looking for "one shots" but would prefer re-occurring campaign I'm really trying to start with the basic game mode (DnD 3.5 or 5)
:( Getting started on Roll20 is proving to be quite difficult. Perhaps I need to not focus on DnD and be open to other games?
It's not that. It's mostly cause it's hard to find a game. It took me a long while. I would offer a spot in my game but we are playing on the weekends and we have a full party. i can offer you a spot if someone leaves. I hope you find a game!
I'm pretty new to roll20 too, managed to get into a few one shots over the weekend last week Not sure if this is the general trend, since I've only really looked for one weekend, but it should make sense that there would be more one shots over weekends. Also, you should look into Pathfinder, since it's also pretty popular, and it's build upon DnD 3.5, so there shouldn't be much to learn (personally, I prefer it over 3.5, but I digress). Having the flexibility should get you into more games.
It takes at least a week to find a game. Your best bet is to post here in the forum and at like reddit/r/lfg and look to like google groups and stuff. Look everywhere!
Time zone, and days available? I've a group that's playing a long running 5e campaign now and one that's g etting ready to begin playing The Lost Mine of Phandelver or Hoard of the Dragon Queen, they've yet to decide.

Sunday through Wed. for damn sure, most Thursdays, availability starts at 7pm CST for 3-4 hours. Preferably weekly. I'm pretty sure I saw your post but the times didn't mesh, please correct me if I'm wrong.
The long running 5e campaign is generally ran on Wednesdays from 8-11PM EST, with a pick up game occasionally on a different day if a PC or two gets plucked for a side mission. The Lost Mine of Phandelver or Hoard of the Dragon Queen game will be ran on either Sunday or Monday 8-11PM EST.
i'm in the same boat as OP..been reading the books for a while and played one campaign, but that was a long time ago
Hmm, I'm working on setting up the Monday campaign right now if you're interested that is.
I'm totally interested.
Jason, what days are you free to play? Depending on everyone's schedules we may be able to play 2 nights back to back.
The Dragons Gate Campaign might work well as a way to get you involved. We play Pathfinder instead of 3.5 but Pathfinder is basically a better version of 3.5 with free rules. Our sessions are almost entirely stand alone sessions (one-shots) but they happen within the context of a living world with many other adventures and world/region plots happening around you. Even though sessions are stand alone they often allow you to effect the world around you in meaningful ways that become a part of the world and future adventures. We're a persistent world Pathfinder group currently in beta with six GMs and roughly forty player characters in the world. We've had at least one game every day for the past few weeks and just hit the 'two games at one time' milestone. We're in the process of welcoming our last batch of pre-launch players so its a good time to join us as you can see the world and community develop. You can check out the campaign information here: http://dragonsgate.boards.net/ Best of luck in your travels and I hope to game with you soon! Gryphyx P.S. Anyone in this thread is just as welcome to check us out as the original poster.
Dr Strange..i'm free to play every night with extreme flexibility on dates and such
We have a few spots left in a 5e game on Monday nights, 8PM EST, Hoard of the Dragon Queen if you're interested,
never played 5e..but sure, going to need help with character creation
I sent you a link to the game in a PM, I'll set up a call later on tonight and help with character creation if anyone needs it. And don't worry about not playing 5e before, it's pretty easy to pick up on.
