Dragonbane Initiative Bug

On testing i noticed characters can have the same initiative score (using the party sheet). This should not happen?

I'll try to test it and see if I can replicate that. It's a sheet created by: Sigil Services, so we might have to contact them to ask or fix this if needed. The instructions for the sheet, regardining initiative says this: Party Sheet The character sheet also provides a party sheet functionality to fully support the Dragonbane system's card drawn initiative. This can be used in addition to the Roll20 initiative tracker, or completely in place of it by toggling a setting on the sheet's setting page. The default mode is to be used in place of the native Roll20 initiative tracker. This page is meant to be used as a separate character sheet entry in the game's journal which all players should be given edit access to. Rolling initiative To roll initiative using the party sheet, simply select the token you wish to roll initiative for and click the roll initiative button to pull one of the ten initiative cards for that creature, add it to the initiative tracker, and sort the character sheet based initiative order.

The sheet offers 2 methods, Roll20 Turn Tracker initiative panel, or, Dragonbane character sheet PARTY SHEET initiative tab; There is a toggle to choose between the 2 methods. You say you're using the Party Sheet method for that, I gather, is that correct?

Tariff, I tested it a few times. It seems to be working. I tested with 8 characters (each has a Character Sheet, and a Token on the map associated to it), and 1 Party Sheet. The clicking process is: Click on a character token, then click the initiative roll button on the Party Sheet initiative tab. Then select a different Character Token and repeat. I'm not getting the issue that you described. I'm getting a unique init number for each of the Character/Tokens, appearing in the Party sheet. What's your exact process, step by step, to replicate the issue? I'm guessing maybe you don't have Character Tokens down on the map, and selecting a new Token each time you press initiative? I'm not sure, I can't seem to get it to do what you described.

I have tried the initiative in the Party sheet many times and not received the same initiative, so I would be interested to understand what steps you took to make it happen and if it can be reproduced. The way that initiative is handled is similar to when using cards with the Roll20 turn tracker. You basically have initiative numbers 1 to 10 and once one is assigned to a token it is removed from the list of initiative numbers that the next token can receive. Because of this, you should not be able to get the same initiative for two tokens. A clarification on the settings for the sheet in terms of Roll20 tracker - if you use the Party sheet you can decide whether you want the assigned initiative to also populate the Roll20 turn tracker or not. There are limitations to this, namely you can not have two initiatives for the same token in the Roll20 turn tracker. Another limitation of the Party sheet currently is that you will need to clear the list after every round, and add everyone again. There is no way currently to reroll initiative for all those already on the list. This makes it quite time consuming to use it, and I hope we will see an update to the sheet that resolves this. When we play Dragonbane we do initiative by using a deck of cards, you can create a deck yourself with numbers 1 to 10 or use the one that come with the Dragonbane module (just remove the "Init " from the card names first). For monsters with ferocity higher that 1 you would need to add as many tokens to the boards as its ferocity, and draw for each of them. When you have a new round, you Recall all cards, Shuffle the deck, and then Deal (1 card when asked) to turn order. This works fairly well for us. Finally, Sigil Services rebranded to Metamorphic Digital Studio. For any support issues use the form at https://support.metamorphic-digital.com/.
I have also had the problem of multiple characters having the same initiative number. Also a group that live streams on you tube (dungeon musings) had the same issue and had to use the roll20 cards as a solution. I also am a bit dubious that 10 cards is enough. Ive not played on roll20 yet but i have a group of 5. If you get a couple of monsters with ferocity 2 and other monsters, wont you run out of cards pretty quick? Also, why do monster attacks not roll damage. For example, Vampire Bat collective Attack. I put the damage dice in (2d6), but it dosent roll it. Ive held off running dragonbane in roll 20 because of these issues. Currently considering just going to foundry.
Yes i did have tokens on map, and clicked each one and drew initiative cards
I shall do another test and report

The initiative for Dragonbane is a bit different from how Roll20 does it, with new initiatives each round and with ferocity giving one enemy multiple turns each round. The 10 cards limit is mentioned in the rulebook, and if you have many enemies then you can group them all under one initiative. So, pick one of the 5 goblins and they all act under the same initiative. I guess the sheet could be updated to allow you to increase the number to something else, and randomize initiative from a larger pool of numbers. I will check and see if a new version of the sheet is on the table, and perhaps add such a feature. I have seen other issues with the initiative, like adding additional empty rows when adding a token. Or initiatives already in the list disappearing when you add a new one. But I dont think I have seen the same number. I think one of the more common discussions about the sheet is that for character and npc weapons it will roll damage at the same time as the result of the attack. Since the opponent gets to chose whether to parry or dodge before damage is rolled, showing the damage would affect that choice. It is the same with monsters, but as yo point out there is no way to roll the damage. The way we do it is the initial damage in the attack roll is never used, instead we roll again for an attack and use the damage from that roll. Perhaps the solution for both of these issues would be to include a button in the attack output in chat to roll damage?
