[Text][PBP][D&D 5e] Looking for 2 more players for play-by-post Phandelver campaign

We're full, thank you! Looking for **one** more to join in an ongoing PBP D&D 5E Phandelver campaign. PBP = play-by-post game meaning that the game is played on the message board and the VTT is used only for rolls and reference. The Campaign We're about 65% of the way through the Phandelver campaign, which we are playing in an inspired by the source material sort of way. That means despite having assets available, we're handrawing maps, shuffling enemies and stats a bit, and introducing non-canonical elements in the interests of keeping the experience fresh for those who have played it before, unique to other playthroughs, and with hooks for custom content that takes us beyond the current setting if the party so chooses. The game feels a bit raw by intention, as it might if you were sitting down with your friends in your youth using only paper, dice, and colored pencils, with some written instructions to constrain your imagination. While it is our intention to finish out the Phandelver content and you would be joining in the latter half of that effort, we expect that given our pacing and remaining content, there's enough left to sustain us for at least a year or two, not counting the side/additional content that can be pursued at the party's leisure. What to Expect Rules D&D 5E core, with some adjustments as we go to help with the PBP play-style. We primarily keep to the PHB races/classes/mechanics when building characters to keep things simple, clean, balanced, and familiar. Remember that Phandelver is a 5E entry level campaign, so it is tuned for entry level characters. Focus Collaborative storytelling, character choices, and a living world. This game is more about the serendipity of playing out your characters as they are (albeit constructively, please no characters designed to just wreak havoc on party norms), and letting the game be what it is around it. Think narrative, not min-maxing. Pace Meandering with occasional rest stops. If you like checking in only once per day, or a few times a week, and contributing when you can you'll fit right in. This is definitely one of the slower paced PBP games out there, so you should not rely on this as a primary source of entertainment. This is great if you have many other distractions to keep your interest and you can jump in whenever there's activity in game. During combat we try to check in daily; outside of combat, things slow down to adapt to players' lives. Some players queue contingent actions in advance to account for absences in combat. Looking For Respectful, mature, collaborative players who are comfortable playing with a group of older adults (that's what our group has been composed of thus far). Enough familiarity with the D&D 5E rules that we will not have to teach you them, though we're more than happy to help answer questions or sort out confusion (PBP is too slow to work things out in real time!) Players with good command of the written English language (I'm not saying you need perfect grammar or that you will be writing novels, far from it - but, since we're interacting only via prose in message boards, it is important that you are fluent in English and put some effort into writing decently structured sentences) Players with desire to write at least just a little more than the bare minimum, so as to help with the ambiance and role play of the group, since the entire experience is predicated on what we're writing to each other! Not Looking For Drama of any sort Rules lawyers or min-maxers (by all means, fight hard in combat, but remember, as players we're not here to "win" so much as to have an interesting story to tell afterward) Players who are so attached to their characters they cannot tolerate the slightest loss of agency (again, a PBP tends to require some concessions to keep things going, and if you're that wrapped up in your character, this may not be the group for you) Anyone who can't keep up with the already slow pace of the group (or anyone who will get frustrated that it isn't moving fast enough for them) If this sounds like a fun time for you, we have an application thread here: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/12506478/application-thread
