Welcome to the living world of Morkjord, This is a long term Homebrew campaign set in a high fantasy world full of adventure and challenges to overcome. The world is structured under a 5e ruleset with over 25 custom classes to fit the homebrew world of Morkjord Campaign time : Sundays 6-7pm EST being the start time. (Session 0 will be on Saturday around 7-8pm EST to learn about the world and create characters. First seed ( Spiritual Arcana ) The Tale of a Legendary Gem called the Aether Stone caused an event known as "the great expedition" to start. It was rumored that those who were able to set eyes on the Aether Stone could obtain a chance at becoming leader of a new kingdom as well as wealth beyond what any could comprehend. As the world converged on a place known as the grand dungeon only 1 person could make it to the bottom. The True Prize was not promised kingdoms but instead, mankind's first opportunity to ascend to godhood. Gifted with the knowledge of arcana and the essence of divinity This God became known to the people as the Maker who in return blessed man with magic as well. Ultimately the Maker ended up vanishing toward the end of the first seed after teaching man the last of what he knew. Second seed (Thirst for Knowledge) .In the push to understand the concepts of arcana to find the maker, Mankind so engorged with the unknown had lost sight of themselves and dived so deep into the unknown that they conjured forth an entity of pure evil known as Daegon. Daegon who was once a magister and mother by the name of Iva Easterwood became possessed by a form of chaotic necrotic energy unlike anything the world had ever seen. with no way or knowledge on how to combat daegon and this newfound energy, she created a warpath of destruction leaving in her wake a miasma that permanently stained the land. a dark substance the people called Nexi .This residue of darkness spread across Terra Firma throughout the years spreading, consuming and converting whatever it touched stopping the natural flow of arcana which once ran in every living being, rendering magic useless for them. Unable to stop the entity of evil Tyrell became enslaved for the next 500 Years under this dark ruler. The land of Tyrell after being taken over had been renamed mörk Jord Those that were still able to retain arcane energy gathered in secret attempting to find a way to undo what was done and stop Daegon. Daegon found out the plans of man and attempted to extinguish those who fought against her rule causing the great 100-year war that almost ended this world. toward the end of the Second Seed mankind won the war using a guild of mages called the circle of magi to deliver the final blow to Daegon’s rule, A grand magister by the name of Etta along with their battlemages weakened the entity enough to successfully Banish the being to another realm ending the war once and for all Even though man won the war there were still side effects from Daegon's rule. One of those being the potent powerful blanket of darkness that covered the sky. Animals who were alive during Daegon’s rule spread the miasma creating a nexi-related disease that caused creatures to grow feral and berserk at night poisonous to eat. The Enchanted Forest lost its magical value stopping druids from using the majority of their power sending them on a declining path of extinction. The enchanted forest continued to lose a bit of itself each year ultimately disappearing from the material plane. .Great Beast that was once normal were morphed by nexi and the last few elementals that survived the war sacrificed themselves to restore what they could of the tarnished lands. The dark overcast that looms over the world acted as a constant reminder of mankind's past but gave them hope for a brighter future. Mankind slowly over the years set out to restore the world as best they could to form a golden age amongst all races. Grand magister Etta and the circle of magi took things into their own hands and traveled into the realm of Nexi in a final attempt to stop the base of its spread and risked their life in a place that history has named Enigma. These brave heroes were able to seal off the Nexi for good. but at a cost, the world had to accept. Only 1 made it out. at the end of the second seed, the world had recovered mostly from the harm of the Nexi. The enchanted forest returned to the world and the mystic wonders that once used to exist in the world began to resurface. During the warpath of Daegon, a lot of the history of the world had been destroyed but at least the people of Morkjord had a chance to live. Third Seed ( Prophecy ) A new kingdom was established in the Gentle Plains after the great war. At this time the Great Magister Etta finished traveling the lands between them and chose the new rising kingdom to be her final resting place. Her Arrival brought many great adventurers that wished to live alongside her to learn of the great lore and prosper in the abundance provided by a new kingdom. As a last job, she worked with those great adventurers who offered help to make the kingdom feel like home to all who wished to stay in peace. Thus at an old age, she passed away as the last adventurer to have faced Daegon and survived. With Ettas passing her personal journal was opened and studied by the " Circle of magi " who discovered that with her passing that same dark being that was banished away would be set free to terrorize the world once more. Learning this daunting information the Circle of Magi set forth claiming key things needed to fight back against Daegon once more. After Collecting the wonders listed in Etta's journal the people of Morkjord discovered that the Maker had been banished to the same dimension that Daegon was banished to and split into abominations that were enslaved by her. The Circle of Magi Established the old lines of Divinity creating "The Nine Divine" and with divine power created a gateway for the banished elementals and dragons to return to the land to unite and fight back in one last war against Eternal Darkness. This War was the defining moment for the people of Morkjord who after giving it their all Won against impossible odds The Nine Divine entrusted their powers back to the elementals who were the original keepers of life and a golden age was formed as each of the kingdoms settled their differences and went to work on repairing the land once again. With a realm to repair the elementals contracted the dragons as their guardians and left Morkjord to their own devices while they worked to remove all Nexi from the land and rebuild. Fourth Seed ( The Fall of Dragons ) A Specific bloodline called the Easterwoods were tasked with keeping in direct communication with the elementals and the dragons. For generations, they retained special lore and traditions from the elementals on how to keep the nexi at bay if it were to ever return and specific ways to use the nexi that could not be removed for the better good of morkjord. While maintaining the nexi and its output it could be used to boost the quality of life in ways that they had not previously been able to comprehend. With extreme caution, the Easterwoods kept this information to themselves and kept the knowledge of the “Wells” hidden for many years. It was not until something monumental happened that they decided to give this information to the people. The Easterwoods gave this knowledge to each of the kingdom's leaders in a massive summit known as “The Grand Meeting” There the Easterwoods informed the leaders that the elementals had been betrayed by the dragons shortly after the discovery of the wells. The majority of them had been wiped out and those that remained went into hiding. The elementals had only revealed to the dragons the location of one well when there were actually 2. The elementals gave man the location of the other well and pleaded for us to stop the dragons before irreversible damage could be done to the world. The Easterwoods pleaded that they are given permission from the leaders of morkjord to harness the power of the well to stop the dragons which all leaders agreed was the best choice to make. Within this seed, a great war took place leading to the extinction of the Easterwoods and the dragons but ended with peace for morkjord and tough decisions to be made. The Fith Seed ( The Power of Wells ) The elementals that remained returned to morkjord to act as the new guardians of the wells promising man that they would maintain them for the foreseeable future. They made home in the eternal forest near Freywood and merged plains with morkjord thanks to the power of the wells. The leaders of each kingdom requested that they be taught how to maintain the wells on their own in case anything were to happen to the elementals and thus were granted this request. During this seed, each kingdom was allowed 2 representatives to learn the sacred traditions on how to keep the wells safe . throughout the seed Each kingdom got there turn gaining access to the wells during this time the Infinite Dungeon known as the grand dungeon re-opened allowing adventuring to become the primary goal across the land. After completing the request given to them by man, The elementals dedicated their lives to replenishing the Material plane from the damage caused by nexi seeing it as their last goal before returning back into the elemental realm for good. The representatives chosen to inherit the old lore joined under one guild called Light of the Mythril Dragon Claw to become the wells prime defenders and created archives of the old lore to make sure it would not be forgotten. Sixth Seed ( The Champion of Wells ) Where the players will be joining the world this campaign This is a picture of the layout and a example of some of the classes within the world.
