Star Wars Edge of the Empire API compatible sheet error

Hey everyone. Just something that has come up for me and few players in my group.

We are getting these errors when we roll

No attribute was found for @{Byrec|characterID}

No character was found for '-dicepool'
-------------------

Yesterday basically, we was getting the -dicepool but the dice were still being rolled but not now.

Does anyone have an knowledge of how to fix it or something else we need to do in the sheet?

That attribute is added by the API Script. I assume you're a player in the campaign in question and your GM is a mentor and has installed the script? Your GM probably needs to restart the API scripts. When the EoEd script starts up, it will go through and add that attribute to all characters.

(As it turns out, this isn't actually necessary anymore as @{Byrec|character_id} seems to provide the same functionality, and @{character_id} in character macros and the character sheet should resolve correct, but that's a fix for the developers of the sheet and script to pursue.)

Almost all of us had this error last night. Our GM is a mentor (as are a few of our players who had the same issue). He restarted the API no change. We all left, he restarted the API and test rolled for us...it worked, but then it didn't work for us when we did it. This morning he created a new version of my character. The first roll worked, but then after all I get is No attribute was found for @{-dicepool|dicepoolgm} We had to all fallback to the Google Hangout plugin, but we'd rather use the roll20 api. Any ideas?

Edit: I think one of the affected players who is also a mentor tried creating his own campaign and he couldn't get it to roll there either.

If you use @{-dicepool|dicepoolgm} manually, do you get anything back?

Sorry, I'm a noob. Not sure how I use it manually. If I just type it in chat, I just get -dicepool|dicepoolgm. I wasn't sure if the chat parser was supposed to pick up the @ as a command. (a /@{-dicepool|dicepoolgm} just gives an unrecognized command)

ok. If it persists, I'd be happy to jump in and look to see if I can figure out the issue for you.

I know this is probably old hat for some people, but thought I'd add something to the conversation. I was having some trouble trying to figure the script out and see the dice rolls, and was about to use the Google-Hangouts, by default, since it just "works". Well, it all became a lot clearer once I had some characters created.

Without a single character or NPC created, the dice roller doesn't do a whole lot. But, even with one NPC with some stats, and the script enabled (gotta remember that bit!) - bam. You start seeing the die results in the chat window.

I'm a newbie with the tool, and figured, there may be some other newbies who don't get as far and may just give up or use the easier to operate Google Hangout version. Also, as good as the javascript is (and what, nearly 3000 lines of code??) it would probably benefit from a youtube video (if there isn't one) much like the GM crash courses. And, probably some other documentation and such. Not complaining mind you, because, frankly, once this thing is up and running, it's a thing of beauty!!

Seriously thanks for all hard work and the phenomenal tool. I highly recommend it over the Google hangouts one, if, for no other reason that you end up with a fair bit more desk space. :) (I also like that everyone can see the dice rolls.. wasn't sure in hangouts how that worked out.)

And I agree, some 3d dice like the base ones with Roll20 would be awesomesauce, but again, I understand the limitations and the tool as is, is amazing!! :)

Hate to necro this thread, but I'm getting the same problem as the OP, and I can't seem to resolve it.

I've tried resetting the API, creating new character sheet, etc. But it keeps posting the same error messages. If I manually build a dicepool on the character sheet, it will roll that, but no others work.

Ideas?

No idea, but I'd be happy to take a look. PM me a join and I'll jump in and see if I can figure something out. =D
