‘Nadia walked with an urgency that betrayed her nervousness. It didn’t help that the tightness of the Lower-City streets made her feel somewhat trapped. She was home, but it didn’t feel like it. Maybe it was night making things look so unfamiliar. But she never thought the moon light could make a place so hostile. Nadia jumped at shadows, believing them to be jumping at her. She constantly looked over her shoulder, swearing that she was being followed, watched. Has this place always been so filthy? Is that stench of decay a natural feature? Nadia shook her head roughly. She was muddying her thoughts with paranoia, when she should’ve been cleansing them with reason. Nadia knew this place, she grew up here. To reassure herself she diverted her path on the cobble roads, moving into the narrow alleyways. If anyone was watching her, it would’ve looked like being swallowed into the gaping maw of darkness itself. Deliver the book, that’s all the job was. Easiest mercenary work she’d ever done, hells there wasn’t a damn thing “mercenary” about it. It was a glorified courier gig. The meeting point was down at the Gray Harbor, and the place was as empty as Nadia expected it would be. There were some ships tied up, but there were also plenty of vacancies. She could see in the distance up the river, the lights of numerous other vessels that were waiting till sunrise to dock. It was peaceful here, the lapping water calmed her. She thought for the first time since she’d come back that it was good to be home. Nadia arrived at a dilapidated building. If a building could get sick, it would look like this one. In fact the position of the windows on the second story just above the open door made it appear as a coughing face. Checking the map again, this seemed to be the place. She stretched a little before entering, if this whole thing was a setup… Then she second guessed herself, why would it be a setup, she was home after all, she was safe. There was a kind of… inviting feeling? The inside was just as lovely as the outside, that’s to say not at all. She had remind to herself why she’d come in. Nadia moved slowly, steadily to a light at the back of the place. In a room, alone at a table, sat a human man in his mid-thirties. His skin was noticeably flush in the candle light. He was focused on reading some dusty old book. Nadia made sure to keep moving stealthily, getting a read of the room. She knew there was no way he could’ve noticed her presence. Not yet she was too go- “I know you’re there young lady.” The man spoke without looking up. Godsdamnit. “Yep, and I’m not alone.” Nadia said confidently. The man looked up, obviously the buyer, and raised a single eyebrow. “I’ve got the package with me.” Motioning to one of her many satchels. The man smiled, and said “Good, because I’m not alone either.” Suddenly a figure appeared in her peripheral vision. She jumped back. It was… well she didn’t know what but it was ugly. It’s skin was bone white, and was full of holes. Holes that crawled with bloated maggots that spilled onto the floor. Its eyes were bulging out of its head, bloodshot. Where a mouth should be there was nothing, instead there were three mouths on its neck. “Sorry love, you were being watched after all.” The man at the table said calmly. “Although I’ll give you credit, I think you weren’t going to come in originally. I had to give you a little push.” She noticed the man’s flushness fade, becoming pale as a corpse. Before she could say another word, the light was extinguished along with her life.’ This is a game of D&D where you play as vampires. Not your normal run of the mill bloodsuckers though. Vampires from the Vampire: The Masquerade setting. Enabled due to some homebrew. I’ll be honest this is a weird game idea. But I think if you want to try something different… darker… it could be fun. The game will start out in Baldur's Gate (it is called The City Of Blood after all.) I have a document that outlines what the homebrew looks like. I don’t believe it’ll be too esoteric, but we’ll see. You can take a look and see if it’s something you might like. https://docs.google.com/document/d/18xFwky3nm5V9G0j2jjNOjmjP2hzS7Q3_pv7beblp9i4/edit?usp=drivesdk I’m James (24M) an EST fella, lookin’ to run games on Friday nights. From 7-9 perhaps. Apart from my own homebrew I’m thinking we keep things official like in terms of classes and such. Don’t want to make things too fucked up now. Lemme know folks.
