Roll20 Reserve - December 2025: Wandering Tavern Holiday One-Shot Special

What is the Wandering Tavern Holiday One-Shot Special? This Holiday One-Shot Special takes place aboard The Wandering Tavern , a colossal island-sized airship campaign setting inspired by the works of Studio Ghibli . How to Claim Navigate to https://roll20.net/reserve and click "Claim Now." After claiming, you will see a pop-up verifying your claim. The Roll20 team wants to wish all of our subscribers a happy holiday season. Will your players prove to be naughty or nice ? Only time will tell!
There are no maps bundled with this adventure, so what is the point of this?
I claimed and installed the Wondering Tavern Holiday one-shot, then, as it's "system agnostic," created a game as a D&D 5e one-shot. But the only map page included is the cover. No map. And there are no tokens other than Krampus. And there are no stat blocks, as far as I can tell. I checked the Compendium but there is nothing to read, and no guidance in the game, as far as I can tell, about the missing tokens or map or how to run this thing. Am I missing something?

As advertised below. It does not mention anything about maps (there isn't any), comments next to each point. What’s Included? The module for this Holiday One-Shot includes: Step-by-Step Guide to running this festive adventure (it does have a few handouts, but not detailed as system agnostic, so very vague) Brand-New “Naughty or Nice” Mechanics (it has this, but it is mainly a chart with consequences/rewards) Brand-New Dance Off Downtime Activity/Mechanic (whole mechanic fits on 14 lines) 3 Festive NPCs (mentions the npc's but only one has a picture) 4 Magical Items (this is here, this part is true) Yummy Seasonal Cookie Recipe (this is here, this part is true) System-Agnostic Stat Blocks for creatures/NPCs encountered on this adventure** (untrue, there are ZERO stat blocks anywhere in this, every token brings up asking to create a npc/player/or edit sheet directly in a 5e setting. The handouts will talk about how they interact, maybe mention how to do one thing for them, but no stat blocks at all. Also has two " ** " at the end, making you think a footnote about this, but nothing.) Other notes, mentions a mysterious sleigh under adventure overview, perhaps a actual token with transparent background would be nice for this. Talks about yule legends, but it doesn't tell you what it is. Both points are bolded for no reason in my opinion. Overall a let down reserve reward in my opinion. Says no AI was used, which I believe is true. But I also know I could get all this and even more detailed adventure using chatgpt if I wanted to.

You have to check the Bio & Info tab, since they don't have system specific statblocks you would have to create the sheet if available yourself, but the info is contained in Bio & Info which is available on any sheet. To be fair they should have either explained this (maybe that's what was supposed to be with the ** footnote that doesn't exist) at least in a handout for running the adventure. But once you find it in Bio & Info you can cross reference the journal entry "System Agnostic Terminology" to try and build out actual statblocks for whatever system you're running.
Sacripant T. said: As a fellow Roll20 player, I am really excited about the Wandering Tavern Holiday One-Shot Special! The idea of an airship campaign inspired by Studio Ghibli sounds magical and full of adventure. I can already imagine the party exploring floating islands, meeting quirky NPCs, and encountering mysterious events while the GM guides the story. The new Map Pins feature makes organizing handouts and keeping the game flowing so much easier, especially for a festive session like this. I am definitely planning to run it with my group because it seems perfect for a short holiday campaign that still feels epic. It is great to see Roll20 continuing to add creative content that inspires both players and GMs. I cannot wait to see how my friends react when we board the Wandering Tavern and discover all the surprises waiting for us. Surely this is a fake/bot comment... an account with no time in a game on roll20 just hops in the forum to glaze roll20 and this reserve reward that they wouldn't even get because they aren't a subscriber. I really hope this isn't someone from Roll20 or Homie and the Dude.

Surely this is just an advert, that has been packaged as a free-gift. Trying to sell the system that it was written for. Not that unusual, sadly, as sales people are well known for their attitude to what most would call the truth. Anyway, given the quality level of this it surprising Roll20 thought it was worth even giving away.
I stand corrected Aikepah, I did not think to look in the bio tabs for that info, just something I personally never do, but no saying others don't. Will take another look. I mean you weren't wrong... if they don't tell people where to look it might as well not exist. I would like to see either in the marketplace description the ** mention "Look in the bio and info tab!" or in the game most modules have some extra journal entries that explain how to use the product. Both of those are missing, which isn't great!

the most barebones one-shot i have ever seen. they could have included a low-res or something map for use and provided stat blocks as a handout if it was a lot of work for them to make 5e specific sheets (or for a r20 reserve). "How the Lich Stole Christmas" was way way better last year by far.

Was just pulling this up to run it. VERY disappointed.

Yeah, I usually do a Christmas One Shot and was planning on using this. Quickly realized it was not playable without buying another product :-/ Luckily, I hadn't played the 2023 Christmas reward so I used that instead. That was a great reward. Do more of that, Roll20!
