With the ability to write in text to map pins without needing to be linked to a Journal Entry, map pins are a great way to make player notes specific to each map that can be shared with all other players. Players should be allowed to right-click and add pins themselves, similar to GMs, even if it can be restricted with a game setting for "Allow Players to make Map Pins" for the games that don't want that feature. For games that feature world maps, it's an amazing tool to make a note of a town you want to go to, jot down rumours you've heard or make notes on leads you're following and keep the information near the location of interest. The only way to do this currently is for the GM to create a map pin with a journal linked to it that is editable by the players. However, for larger maps, this can be a pain for the GM, as they have to make dozens of journal entries for each town to accommodate player notes.
