I am looking for a player that is open to joining our gaming group. The game I am looking for a player for specifically is 7pm CST on Saturdays. Basic Info: The setting and system are homebrew and I am willing and eagerly able to help you make a character. The Game Pitch: The Beloved King has died unexpectedly under mysterious circumstances in foreign territory. His crown prince and sole heir slew the main suspect in an act of revenge escalating the situation since the suspect was a prominent Duke of a foreign kingdom. You, the player character, are directly involved with assisting the Prince to the throne. We can work out a reason for this when we build your character. You can be a knight of the former King, friend, ally, double agent, the castle Chef... etc. Add me on Discord if you are interested or have questions. sandyblindsidemaximus (You don't have to read this part if you don't want to. This part is for those interested in world lore) Lore Dump: The written word has been considered sacred for nearly seven hundred years. What better way to attain immortality than to tell someone, hundreds of years in the future, what you once did? At least, this is what scholars believe as they compile the written history of the continent of Ithia.
Ithia is now home to six major kingdoms: Krios, Galia, Hildegard, Frutuna, Raja, and Tseyline. It is common knowledge that Krios is the wealthiest among them. Galia possesses the greatest expanse of forests, while Hildegard is defined by its many rivers. Frutuna has the largest population, and the greatest of all the kingdoms, in sheer size, is Raja. After the fall of the semi-mythical Ladis Empire a millennium ago, Ithia witnessed a great wave of migration from beyond its borders. First came the Wallortians from the north, who founded the kingdom now known as Hildegard, abandoning their longships in favor of the saddle.
Second came the bare-skinned, winged folk, who claimed the mountain ranges and waged prolonged war against the Dwarves. In time, however, their numbers waned and their appetite for constant conflict diminished. Though they no longer dominate the peaks as they once did, they remain the second most populous race in Ithia. In later ages, several warring tribes of mixed blood coalesced into what would become the kingdoms of Krios, Galia, and Frutuna, each rising to prominence after the taming of a great symbol of strength: the Griffon, the Axe, and the Bull, respectively. Lastly, the island kingdom of Tseyline, inhabited primarily by Elves, and the vast deserts and steppes of Raja, ruled by the Horde Princes, together comprise the final lion’s share of Ithia. Fifty years before the events of the TTRPG’s prologue, a great upheaval in the world order occurred—an event now remembered as the Wizard War . In Frutuna, superstition and avarice took hold among the common folk, who turned upon the Wizards’ Guild and sought its destruction. The wizards, stubborn and vindictive, banded together in a futile attempt to defend themselves and their archives, though they were hopelessly outnumbered. In desperation, a nearby band of Wallortian and Kriosian mercenaries was hastily recruited to aid them. Veterans of countless wars attempted to mold the Frutunan rabble into vast formations meant to overwhelm the mercenaries. Yet to the astonishment of all, the wizards’ spells were unleashed with devastating effect. Unintentionally, the non-militaristic wizards and the mercenaries—unversed in the deeper ways of magic—stumbled upon what scholars would later call combined arms warfare. The result was a decisive and unprecedented victory.
So profound was this upset that every kingdom in Ithia abandoned the practice of large levied armies, instead favoring small bands of highly specialized warriors—fighters, archers, wizards, beast-tamers, and others—to wage war. This transformation irrevocably altered the feudal structure of Ithian society. Ten years before the TTRPG’s prologue, Marcus de Carnino ascended to the throne of Krios. So beloved and seemingly blessed was his reign that many believed they were witnessing the dawn of a golden age. Thus, it shook all the lands like a dark thunderbolt when word of his death spread abroad… We are a few sessions in. It has only been a few weeks since the king's death so we are not far in the story and is a good time for new players.
