[LFP/DM] D&D 5e (2014) | Longstanding Group Looking to Add One | Saturdays 3 - 7 EST

Hey there! We’re a close-knit group of TTRPG players (all 30+) who’ve been gaming together every Saturday for over 9 years. Our roots are in 5e D&D, but we’ve branched out into systems like Blades in the Dark, Scum and Villainy, Mothership, Fabula Ultima,  and most recently Draw Steel . We’re also excited to explore other titles like Daggerheart, Legend in the Mist, and whatever else sparks our curiosity. Right now, we’re looking to welcome one more experienced DM/Player into the fold — someone who’s not locked into the forever-DM role, but who’s open to running a 2014 5e game for us to start things off. Ideally, it’d be a custom campaign, but we’re open to modules if we all vibe with the setting. We’re a roleplay-first group. Combat has its place, but what really drives us is character depth, emotional storytelling, and weaving backstories into the world. If you’re the kind of person who loves building immersive narratives and collaborating with players to make their characters shine, you’ll fit right in. Here’s what we’re looking for: • You genuinely enjoy integrating player backstories into your campaigns • You can create compelling characters with rich personal histories • You’re open to trying new systems and experimenting with narrative mechanics • You bring maturity, reliability, and respect to the table Game Time: Saturdays, 3–7 PM EST — this slot is set in stone. It’s been our weekly ritual for nearly a decade. Start Timeline: We are just wrapping up a Draw Steel campaign, so any game you’d run wouldn’t start until some time in February. That said, we’d love to bring someone on board in the next few weeks to get to know each other and ease into the group dynamic. Interview Process: We don’t rush these decisions. Expect a laid-back but intentional chat to see if we’re a good match. If this sounds like your kind of group, reply with: • Your name (or what you’d like to be called) • A bit about your TTRPG experience • Who you are, what you enjoy/dislike in games, and what you look for in a group • Your availability for an interview No pressure to write a novel — just give us a glimpse of who you are. We’ll take it from there. Looking forward to meeting someone who’s ready to build stories with us.
I saw your post and honestly, a group that’s been gaming together for 9 years is legendary. That kind of consistency is hard to find, and I’d love to see if I might be a good fit for that empty seat. My name is Josey . I’ve been into 5e for about 8 years now—mostly in-person games, so I’m a big fan of the energy you get from a live table. I’ve DMed for friends in the past, though if I’m being honest, I’m a little bit rusty. I actually once spent a ton of time building a custom game based on the Tower of Druaga , but then Wizards released Dungeon of the Mad Mage and everyone started saying I was just copying that... it was a bit of a buzzkill, so I ended up shelving it. I’m totally down to run a 5e game for you guys in February. To get back into the swing of things, I’d be open to either a custom world or a pre-written module that we can tweak to make our own. I’m also a big Pathfinder fan, so if you guys ever want to switch things up down the road, I'm your person. A bit more about me: I’m looking for a group that’s reliable and mature but knows how to have a laugh. I love the roleplay-first approach; combat is great, but it’s the character beats and the "why" behind the fighting that keep me coming back every week. I’m not a fan of gatekeeping or the "DM vs. Players" mentality—I’m much more about us telling a cool story together. I’m free for a chat pretty much any weekday after 6:00 PM EST . Best,  Josey

Heya! If you are still looking I'd be interested in playing with you all! The Sat time you specified is fine by me and I agree with all the tenants you shared! My name is Jenna and I've been playing D&D pretty much weekly for 7 years, a mix of in person and virtual with (for the most part) and same group. I've been a player for years, DMed several one-shots, and for the last two years I've been running a campaign in my homebrew world for five people. I've only ever played in 5e 2014, but I'm not opposed to trying out new systems! I am 100% on board with roleplay and playing with backstories. If the final arc of the campaign doesn't tie everyone's backstories and/or character arcs in well, then it is not a very good final arc in my opinion. I love experimenting with D&D tropes and thinking of creative ways to refresh them. My favorite stories are grounded, but end in an epic crescendo. I also like sprinkling in some homebrew rules and abilities, but I'm not interested in totally rewriting the game system. Usually I am a rule of cool DM: if it makes logical sense and would be fun for everyone, I'm going to try to work with players to make it happen. My only ask of a group is that everyone is respectful, participates in the group storytelling effort, and is invested enough in the game to really care about character deaths/heroic moments. I am also absolutely looking for consistency and reliability. I'm in the same age range as y'all, so hopefully we would have some things (including maturity and scheduling skills) in common! Happy to chat Tues-Thurs anytime after 5EST, or anytime Saturdays. Cheers!

Hi there, I'd be interested in joining! My name's io, I've been playing off and on in TTRPGs for 15 years or so, mainly due to having trouble finding a consistent group that's a good fit. The systems I'm most experienced with are Pathfinder 1e, D&D 3.5/5e(both versions), and a little WoD and Star Trek Adventures thrown in. I'm 35, and I particularly enjoy games with character driven storytelling. I like to create fairly down to earth characters who don't seek heroism, but have heroism thrust upon them, with all the trauma that entails. I don't minmax my builds, per say, I just try to make my stats reflect whatever my character should be. I want my characters to be deep and have flaws, and I am never afraid to botch a roll; in fact, I think it's more fun to fail sometimes. While I'm primarily here for roleplay, I can enjoy a good fight when it needs to happen, especially if there's a way we can do something clever to speed it up. When I'm looking for a group to play with, I prioritize finding one that's open and inclusive. I also want a group that understands communication is important for group dynamics; if I'm doing something that makes someone else enjoy the game less, I want to know so I can fix it. It's a game, and everyone should be having fun. I also just like hanging out and shooting the shit with others. I'm available most of the time for an interview. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are all mostly free. I live in CST, and the only things I have on those days are at 1-2pm on Wednesdays and 8-10pm on Thursdays. The only day that absolutely won't work is Friday. Looking forward to hearing from you!
