The Player Character Megathread

This is the place to post your character, any pictures of what your character looks like, any descriptions, backstory, etc. Just beware that character history and background may need to be retconned if it turns out to be in conflict with existing but unexplored portions of the game. If you have any questions about the regions on the world map or cultures, let me know through private message and we'll talk it out. I'm one of those people that thinks characters should be developed as you play the game and interact with the world; they start out as vaguely defined people who for whatever reason have decided to set out to find treasure and adventure rather than lead a routine feudal life. Most adventurers die badly before they get experienced enough to avoid the inherent dangers of the world. Just keep in mind there is a lot of this world you don't know about yet, and so you should probably stick to physical descriptions, interpersonal relationships, and family. Social standing for everyone starts are very low, and no one starts with large sums of money; so try and restrict your backgrounds to those that fit your starting conditions. There is no possibility of a rich aunt, uncle, or forgiving father king taking you back and giving you back those land holdings and vast sums of wealth. Additionally, the non-human races that hang with humans are all the civilized kind that live as humans and have left many if not all non-human traditions and languages behind. Dwarves speak common, and all have nearly lost their ability to see in the dark; they work in all kinds of jobs, but have a good knack for stonework and gem valuation, and are mostly honest folk with no affinity at all for magic, deception, or other thieving skills. Elves possess excellent memory, keener senses of perception, and have lost any other ancestral abilities. Elves work in all kinds of positions in all social stations, but they excel in the use of magic as well as fighting. You do not know why, but common elves do not practice thievery, unlike many of the other elvish tribes and social groups. Halflings are greatly distrusted by humans, and are the least integrated of the non-human races in human society. They can occasionally be found as soldiers, but are often not as effective due to their stature and physique. There are the occasionally halfling merchants, or tradesmen, but many halflings make their living as thieves and beggars, often mistaken as children. There is a good reason that the other races aren't allowed to be clerics. Human gods favor human worship, and so even when a non-human shows their devotion to the gods, they rarely have any of their prayers answered. Ancestral non-humans still worship their old gods, who are considered chaotic by human standards, and so among the traditional people can be found clerics. Civilized non-humans have forgotten their old gods, but even if they decide to worship the old gods, the gods do not forget; none who left tradition will be trusted to carry out the will of their gods.

Gorg Human Chaotic Swashbuckler Gorg is a large short man with thick curly hair, clad in silver plate mail. His magic sword never leaves his side, although he does keep a silvered mace handy in case he needs it. Most everyone he meets considers him quite dull-witted, yet dangerous. He is the cousin of the thief Thakaz. Gorg is currently traveling the world, kicking in doors and crushing skulls. His lust for gold is almost as much as his desire to shed blood. Most of Gorg's life he did not adhere to any man's laws or god's faiths while he did have his own code of honor, which includes unwavering devotion to his companions and allies. Since the incident of the pirates and the death of one of the children Gorg and his companions were rescuing, he has been shaken in his distaste for the gods and honor. The example set by the priests around him have him doubting his lawless ways and he is feeling drawn towards Krotus, despite the protestations of the sentient sword at his side.

Ondraedon Herbenger (roughly translates to "bringer of dread") Human Lawful Cleric Ondraedon was trained in the same temple as the Silo brothers. His entire life he was brought up obeying the laws of Eldrath. However, on his way to Stilt Town to bring "justice" to those who were party to the death of the Silo brothers, he encountered an elderly man being beaten nearly to death by other followers of Eldrath. When he approached the group of men to find out what the old man could have done that was so wrong, the leader of the group simply stated it was none of his business. Torn by his teachings, and the gut feeling that what he was seeing was wrong, Ondraedon took action and killed the three goons (easily as they were not wearing armor and had only makeshift clubs). Having saved the life of this one elderly man has forced Ondraedon to leave behind the only home he has ever known. Returning could only mean death by the temple elders if word of his actions have reached that far. Ondraedon is not a large man. Standing just under 6 feet, he is not an imposing figure. He is quiet and is not quick to act, tends to be too analytical at times. His drive comes from having always been the "runt".

At the age of 30, Ramkus comes in at just under 6 feet in height. With a slight build, thinning blonde hair and beard. Ramkus would be considered average looking to most. His personality is one of devote loyalty to friends, a strong sense of honor, and an esoteric sense of humor which leaves most of his companions scratching their heads. Ramkus worships Krotus and is Lawful Good. Born the 3rd Son of a prominent family, thus not able to claim inheritance. Ramkus was forced to go into the priesthood. After studying for years in the abbey of his home settlement, he was kicked out for transgressions which he holds secret to this day, yet his deeds did not cause Krotus to reject him. Due to this, he brought great shame and embarrassment to his family, which refused to take him back in. Now completely disowned by his family, Ramkus was forced to wander and look for work. He met a group of mercenaries one night in small rundown tavern and soon fell in with them. They liking his stories and his affinity for drink, he liking their money, strength, and sense of justice. Learning the rudimentary ways of combat and how best to use his education for his advantage, he was employed for over a decade in various mostly non-combat related jobs. After one particularly horrible battle, he found himself the soul survivor out of his group of commandants and friends. Broke and alone, Ramkus once again found himself on his own. Roaming from town to town selling his mace arm, or his skills as a priest to whomever who was willing to pay, house, or feed him. With a strong sense of justice and a real desire to do what is right, Ramkus travels onward to great adventures.
