Can't type em-dash in Jumpgate

This is one of those little things that is just going to annoy me, so I would prefer a solution if one is available. I had been avoiding updating my existing games to Jumpgate purely to forestall any kind of disruption to my flow. However, I was recently struck with this bizarre creative itch and wanted to put somethings up into a fresh journal to see how they looked vis a vis planning out a new game. And the only option now for new games is Jumpgate. Which is fine; I'm usually dragged kicking and screaming into updates, but eventually I adapt and find my footing, so it's fine. Whatever. It's fine. However. I open a handout and start typing... only to find that it won't type em dashes.  My flow is now ruined. Ruined! No but seriously, how do I fix this? I've tried opening Roll20 on both Chrome and Firefox, and it's the same in both places. Also can confirm: in my un-updated games, em dash functionality is just fine.  Please help me.

Hi Matt! Question: Are you on a Mac? If so I have the same issue. Also, some time ago, the ability to move the cursor one word at a time with option-arrow went away. I'm guessing that happened around the same time.
Yes, yes I am on a Mac... and while misery does love company, I'm actually a little discouraged to find that this issue isn't a "just me" thing... :-\ I take it this has been a thing for some time now, and you've not found a work around? The common theme of the option key's involvement probably has something to do with it – roll20 sure does like to co-opt certain commands and key combinations so it may just be negating our system's use of the option key. By the way did you notice how I typed an em dash there?? Maddening.
I reported these Mac keyboard issues perhaps a year ago. The issue was confirmed and "forwarded to development for consideration" or whatever the precise wording was.
