[PF] LF 1 Player Homebrew Campaign "A Mortal Expansion" (Newbie Friendly)

1413601440

Edited 1413614097
I began the campaign telling my players this: "My metaphor for the staring place for all your characters is that they are Level 15 commoners (in flavor only) and Level 1 adventures. So, they idea is that they all have gained some renown in a large capital city, be it as a playwright, factory owner, or farmer and have been elected, nominated, or appointed to represent those interests in a new country. That will be the essential hook for all the characters. Your characters will all have a common investment in making the location you're in develop and flourish which means dealing with politics and defending it from monsters. You character backstory should come with some career or business your character has already gained a reputation for like the examples I mentioned." Since that time we have left the capital city of Jazrael for the new world. The PCs have brought their various professions with them. Our group consists of a Calligrapher Paladin, a Ale Brewer Monk, and a Street Magician (though he prefers "The Magnificent") Illusionist Wizard. They have just barely begun to set foot in the city a Glassmont a small city sprawling with business opportunities. Our forth player has some other life priorities and is no longer available. The group is currently at level four. We will be starting our next session implementing the Downtime System Rules. This campaign focuses on a shared story telling narrative and I'm looking for a player who is interested in carrying a strongly themed character with a unique profession. I'm running a calendar system with weather system based on four seasons to impact role playing, business and combat. For example, the group could just decide they don't want to adventure through winter and we will advance a season and that will have an impact on your businesses and on adventuring opportunities. We're not looking for power gamers or min-maxers. Although I encourage you to use the rule system to make a strong character, we're not a group that likes to incorporate build discussion or meta combat. You characters will spend some time in Glassmont developing the theme and story there, then you will have an open world. You will get a glance at a handful of cities which will all have a theme. Your characters will have to deal with the conflict and theme for that city to be able to get your businesses going and gain renown as adventurers. I like to find and use strange monsters and usually build adventures around weird creatures. Examples of future themes the group will encounter are, a town of cult worshippers, a gotham inspired mobster town, a floating city of mages, a war torn region, a woodland city built among the trees, and a town governed by a coven of druids. Unfortuneately, I can't give away the theme behind the current city. We play Wednesdays at 6pm CST. We'll talk stats after we talk character story. All d20pfsd (Core, APG, ACG) non-third party classes/archtypes except summoners. No evil characters. Most races, excluding high race point races. Here is the most recent directional post I gave my players for where we are at. "You'll be able to follow up on any of these quests when we get started next session. Also, you should know, as players, there will be an underlying story to each city and eventually, if we ever get there, to the campaign as a whole. However, these quests will be stumbled upon at first then later you can follow up on leads. So, decide how your characters would act looking to better the new city they want their business to thrive in and the threads of the underlying Glassmont plot will be tied beneath your feet as we move along. If all goes according to plan that is... We'll be moving a month forward in time into the second month of spring. You'll all had some time to get your various enterprises off the ground. We'll get started with each of you being faced with a short event happening in your business. You'll have five of each capital type at your disposal. With that out of the way, you'll have a number of adventuring opportunities at your disposal. If you want you can stay in town and build your business you can do that. However, adventuring will get you access to capital resources and typical adventuring loot. You'll be aware of the following rumors and requests for adventurers around town: Pasture Plight: A local farm is having trouble with unknown individuals stalking their tall stalks and assassinating their farmhands. No ransom has been requested by the assassins. The farm's owner, Thomas, will pay to have the threat assessed and/or neutralized. Timber!: The local timber mill has been ransacked and captured by a powerful organization known as the Citizens Freedom Alliance. This organization has sprung up in response to growth of organized cities all over the continent. They must be stopped in the name of civilized progress (or not...) Byeberry: A berry used in the development of a local wine has been wiped out from the shores of Lake Milhoe. Foragers have not been able to find berries on the bushes for month and have recently started to go missing. Lost Lands: An unknown civilization once lived in the foothills to the north. What happen to them is unknown, but riches and renown is sure to flow to anyone who can find out. Survey the Suriyamas: The foothills of the nearby mountain peeks are speculated to be rich with undeveloped ore. So far Glassmont has been unable to develop them due to unknown dangers from the mountain. Securing these mountains for development would bring a whole new industry to the city. I am the Terror that Flaps in the Night: Something is decimating the population of local game in the South Forest. This new predator must meet the higher order on the food chain. Hello!: A mostly unmet society lives to the southeast along the lakeshore. They have access to domesticated horses, freshwater fish, and other assets. Gaining their allegiance for Glassmont before they are captured or indoctrinated by the Citizen's Freedom Alliance would help open up new territories for the city." UPDATE: IF YOU'RE INTERESTED PLEASE POST A DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR IN A GAME/GM/OTHER PCs, YOUR EXPERIENCE LEVEL, AND A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER'S STORY.
Hello, i would be interested in playing a warpriest butcher. If that sounds like something that would fit in, do let me know. If you want to know a bit more about me, check my profile. Kind regards Balsha
Hello, I am also interested in playing. I've been looking at running a Human Fighter, but can be open to other options if variety is wanted.
Great to hear from both of you. I updated the post to make this more clear, but I'd ask you both to post a description in what you're looking for in a game/gm/other PCs, your experience level, and a little bit about your character's story.

I am interested... Wednesday nights are good for me, but the start time is a little early (I am AZ / MST time) especially during the summer months when there is a 2 hour difference, so 4:00 PM here which is problematic due to work. Not sure if you have flexibility on start time or not, so I wanted to disclose it up front. I am looking for a game where the players and the GM work to co-create a story and everyone realizes the whole point is to have fun. Beyond that the group should be dependable and follow Wheaton's Law. I am old school from waaaay back, but now play Pathfinder and 5E on Roll 20. Character... Ramsay Feist - Cleric - Found the priesthood late in life - successful merchant businessman, lost his wife and son to the plague - he sold his business / expended his fortune trying to save his wife... then turned to dark rituals (very bad things) when his son fell ill but nothing worked. When his daughter became sick he turned to religion, pledging his life that she might be spared - she was. Now his focus is on helping others. He used his business acumen to organize the homeless youth of the city into a reliable and respected messenger service - looking to expand to other cities.

Just checking in here. Still looking for a player. Destrier, our start time is already set. Sorry, we won't be able to move it. Clay and Balsha, would love you to expand on your ideas.

Apologies, I've had quite hectic last few days. Anyway, i was thinking something along the lines of either old war veteran (if there was a war) who had enough of it and decided to settle on respectable business. Would want to have a wife and possibly a kid. Wanted to give them a fresh start, moved to the new country and he has a deep desire to make life better for his wife and son. He was a priest before the war and his son wishes to become a paladin one day. Another option (if wife and son are not feasible) is to have him be a priest who went into butchering because of his love of meat. He would be a kind man, working heavily in hand with soup kitchens and helping the poor whenever he can. When the new country opportunity came up, he jumped at it since hey, everyone needs to eat and he would make sure that the poor have something to eat too. I would prefer the family man since if we have downtime from time to time, that should actually be feasible. These are just character concepts and i would expand on them before i finalize the character. About what i am expecting from a game. I am looking for having fun and great adventures. From other PC's i am personally looking for consistency to their characters, a good attitude and a sense of fellowship. From the GM i am looking for a person who is not bullying players with overpowering NPC's all the time and one who actually has consistency to get his ideas played through (i am not one of those, i have a lot of great ideas but i never go through with them since i get sidetracked easily, hence i suck as a GM). If both of these character concepts are not feasible, i am sure i could come up with a few more.
