Age of Innovation (5e D&D Homebrew Campaign) lookin for 1-2 more players

Welcome to the Age of Innovation. My Name is Connor Carlson a Veteran DM looking to start a new long term homebrew campaign. Below I have added a brief idea of what I'm going for in this campaign, I'm excited to see what characters y'all send me. I only have 3 rules in my games, be kind, have fun, and let's make a memorable story. Note wording and some names could be subject to change - and if you have notes, please let me know this is a collaborative game so I'd love some feedback  Our story will take place in the world of Parva Lux 56 years after the calamity that attacked the heavens and brought the age of innovation and birth to the branch of Specs. For millennia every living being on this world was connected to what they call the Tree of Connectivity. When souls are born the tree's roots wrap around and connect it to one of its many branches. Yet over the last 200 years, an increasing number of people began to be born “unrooted”, born disconnected to the innate magic of this world. Such people were ostracized, their existence cursed but the gods themselves. Then, on a cloudy day 56 years ago, a tree made of bright white lightning shot from the ground and attacked the heavens. The sky lit up as the lightning pierced into the clouds and burned its image onto the heavens for three days. People assumed this was some cataclysmic act of destruction, but it instead was the birth for a new form of connection. Through avenues of creativity and construction a new artificial branch of connection was born in the Branch of Specs. People who were "unrooted" could go through these artificial connectors and could finally feel connected to the roots of the magic of this world. As these once “unrooted” individuals began to bloom and spread their knowledge, their branch began to rival the others, many saw it as a force connection to the tree of power. Leading to the Windthro Wars which shaped this land for many years. These stories of what happened from the calamity to present day will be slowly learned throughout the campaign. But I will tell you where we begin, we'll be in the capital of the Age of Innovation, the first city founded by those unrooted and the main base of the Branch of Specs in the City of Nobel. The reason for your character being there varies but regardless of the reason the City of Nobel is celebrating the coming of the 57th anniversary of the Dawn of the Age of Innovation and the 25th anniversary of the Windthro Wars peace treaty. I hope the best for our journey together, some of the more clunky bits to go, this will be a 5e campaign but know that if you have other material whether it be 5.5 or fan made material you just have to ask and I’ll let you know whether I feel it will work in the campaign. I personally believe the story cannot be ready until I know your character and their history and motivations. So, know that I will work with you to make sure you and your character feel connected and familiar with the world. So please submit your character idea and we can set up a time to sit down and talk about who you feel your character is and where you’d like to see them come from and where you’d maybe like their story to go.  Known Branches - The four largest institutes in the world that come together to make the main religion in this world.  Vita - (Life) Stella - (Arcane) Cor - (Heart)          Fleur - (Nature) New Branch - Not part of the main institute - more of a rebellious moment Specs - (Hope)  The Pantheon will be composed of animals that are known to be associated with trees. Owls, foxes, bears, etc.… If you have an idea let me know.   Vibes - While I continue to work on the small details of the campaign, my goal in this is to bring as much creativity to the game as we can. The only requirement of this campaign is that you need to align your class and abilities to a branch of your choice. While your character does not have to do anything with the branch chapter itself, similar to how where you from doesn't define you dictate what you can do. You still need to choose what roots you want to intertwine your character with. Note that any class can come from any branch. We just need to work together on explaining how that connection occurs. For example, you want to be a Wizard of Cor, generally a branch forced on physical and martial classes. You could either focus more on subclasses like blade singer, or you could be a wizard that tapped into more of a physically straining form of magic that while based in arcane is unique to your character. Again, cannot stress that I want you to be as creative as possible we will work together to make it work in the setting  Finally, I want to explain what would happen if you made an “unrooted” character from the Branch of Specs. Let your cyberpunk brain run wild, whether it be full augmentations to your character, exo-suit like armor, or chemical/experimental mutagen. Whether you’re a Bane style barbarian that injects drugs into yourself to rage or a wizard that loads their spells into mechanical arms to cast their spells. We will work together to not only to balance but implement your character ideas. Note that there is no downside or benefit to any special augmentations you design for your character. Although if you are injured or want to upgrade your augmentation you will need to find a proper facility to meet your needs. I operate closer to the rule of cool so know that I will not use game play to hinder your enjoyment of the game or your character. Thank you for reading Sincerely, Connor Carlson Discord (ConnorCarlson)
