Arthas awakens in all-too-familiar cavern, the sound of water splashing in the distance. The last thing he rememebers, he had been filled with the Holy Spirit near Dreze Citadel. Now his friends are missing, and he is back in the Abyssal cave. Something is different this time, however: sitting on a rock nearby is a small gold dragon. "My name is Peace Through Vigilance," the dragon says, "and I am not here. The Sword of Valor prevents any non-demon from teleporting in its vicinity, even me. So instead, I am visiting you in your dreams." Peace Through Vigilance goes on to explain that Arthas's allies have been duped, and that the banner they carry is not the true Sword of Valor . Even now, they are fleeing the Citadel, hurrying in the wrong direction. The dragon asks the paladin to intercept them before the devil army finds the real prize. "How will I find my them?" Arthas asks. "Let hubris be your guide," replies the dratgon, and Arthas awakes again. He is still in the Abyssal cave, but the dragon is gone. Radiance gives of a dim light as the paladin stands and heads in the direction he believes the entarnce to be. He has only taken a few steps when a large, unfamiliar form appears ahead. With the forequarters of a giant eagle and the hindquarters of a horse, the hippogriff is a creature that Arthas has heard of, but never encountered. This one is saddled for a rider, and has its head bowed. "Are you Hubris?" asks Arthas. The hippogriff screeches, possibly in affirmation. "Good enough for me," says Arthas, and hops into the saddle. Hubris flies out oft he cave and heads in a seemingly random direction across the Abyss. A few minutes later, however, Arthas spots Lor and Nor flying towards him upon Xhotl. He hails his comrades. Nor is somewhat distressed, because has somehow lost Elaryan and Eovan in the retreat. Arthas's story is convincing, though, particularly since the oracle is far enough away from the Citadel for divination to work. A detect magic quickly reveals the truth of Peace Through Vigilance's message, and the party resolves to return to Drezen. Hubris screeches in triumph. This time, they attack the keep from its southeast side. Nor uses stone shape to punch a hole in one of the walls, and the heroes begin their reconnaissance. They travel down a stairway to a locked door, which Nor quickly dissolves. On the other side is a small band of demonic soldiers known as thoxel. The thoxel are moderately capable warriors, fighting with large two-bladed swords. Something about their presence also causes Hubris to fly into a rage, attacking Xhotl. Fortunately, the hippogriffs blows have almost no effect on the velociraptor, and the thoxel themselves are no match for the mythic champions. A few minutes later, the demons are slain and the party continues depper intot the keep. In the next room, they encounter three fiendish minotaurs wielding massive double axes. The minotaurs are more of a challenge than the thoxel, particularly after they banish Xhotl and Flumph to a maze-like dimension for several rounds. They also have the unfortunate tendency to teleport from place to place. In the end, however, the party is once more victorious. After the minotaur are killed, Nor's companions return, and the party girds itself to travel even deeper into Drezen Citadel. Everyone who played gains 4,000 XP
