LF Seasoned D&D DM to take Wanna-Be DM Under Wing

Hello hello! Thank you for taking time to read my post. I'm looking to start up my own D&D game/campaign, but wanna have a wing-man or experienced DM along the way for a fun and collaborative game. I've found that I always work better with a sounding board and love hearing others' ideas and twists. Everyone thinks differently and I like to hear all those interesting and unique ideas! A bit about me: I am a 25 year old female. I picked up D&D when I was about 12 and have loved it ever since. I am already starting to love the 5E game, but still have a place in my heart for 3.5 instructions. I have DM'd 1 and a half times. The first was in completely self-made dungeon when I was about 15. The second attempt was to run a bought adventure called the Sunless Citadel. Fun, but didn't have many interested players, so it flopped. Please send me a message if you are interested in helping me design a campaign. I have a small group eager to see what I come up with and am really eager to get the creativity going! I have basic idea for a main plot, but and very flexible. I also have a decent grasp of the Roll20 mechanics after watching the tutorials and playing around some. Hope to hear from you!
Are you intending to run 3.5e or 5e? If it's the former, I don't mind offering my 2 cents a bit.
I would prefer to run a 5E. So far, I like the freedom and ease it provides both players and DM. Since I intend to focus a great deal on the RP and storyline, less so the system itself, it fits seems a better fit.
*nods* Alrighty, best of luck to ya.
Hello Kayla, iv been a GM for almost 20 years now, but i stopped "updating" after 3.5. So if you need a sounding board for anything that is not rules based your welcome to give me a poke.

Hi there! I'm no DM veteran compared to the others in this thread; I've only been going for about a year, most of which has been D&D. I've been irregularly running a Next / 5E campaign on and off since January, and had the occasional foray into 4e as well as other systems (World of Darkness, mostly). I don't usually design campaigns, at least not in the traditional sense; I'm more of a worldbuilder. However, I think I can provide some valuable insight, if you'll have me.
DnD 3.5 DM. I've done 1-2 home-brew campaigns and I've got a good grasp of the rules. I have a style that's more geared towards telling a story and making the rules fit the vision instead of being a slave to the rules. I also have a penchant for traps, magic, and pyrrhic victories so the heros tend to come out battered, scarred, grizzled, burned and a giant grin on their faces. I care that the players have fun and play smart, so if they come up with a solution that is reasonable enough or funny enough I tend to go with that. If they are blatantly stupid they should expect to suffer for it. Happy to bounce ideas around if you want.
I started DMing fairly recently myself, and my experience lies mostly with 2e and 3.5, but I am trying to get into 5e as well right now. Basically I wouldn't really be a great tutor or anything, but if you want you can write me your ideas or plots/stories so far and I can give you valuable input and ideas for the games! I love designing encounters, dungeons, but mostly characters and their relations with each other. I also love reading walls of text and to see what other games look like, so I can give you passive feedback as well. Just send me some info about the group or the setting via PM and I can start giving you hopefully helpful ideas! I wish you the best of luck! Regards Lee
Sent you a PM there Kayla. Wish you the best of luck as you take on the endeavor of DMing. Yes, it's a lot of work, but, with the right group of players, I'd argue it's the most exciting/fun position to play in the game. Also, don't sweat the mechanics! As you can see above, there are lots of people willing to help you out w/ the actual intensive part of the game (plotting and such), the mechanics and npc creation tend to fall in place once you have a clear story in mind. Finally, it might help all of us if you gave us an idea of the mode of game you are looking to create: i.e. a sandbox campaign, a linear campaign (nothing wrong w/ that choice, don't listen to naysayers who claim it's bad/wrong fun), dungeon crawl, etc. Good Luck! -Luzelli
The outpouring of support and willingness to provide feedback and assistance. I have an inbox full of eager tutors and possible partners, so bear with me as I review them all and try to get back to everyone. I was excited before, but now I'm trilled thanks to all the responses! Thanks so much!
I'm probably late to the party but I would to throw my metaphorical hat into the so called ring. I've been playing for 15+ years, running games for as long. I'm currently running a 5e game (Hoard of the Dragon Queen), play in a 5e podcast ( Brave New Dungeon: The Pearl ), run a 4e podcast ( Dungeons & Diatribes: The Podcast ), run a 5th edition Shadowrun podcast ( Geek the Mage ) and have a site that discusses D&D topics ( Dungeons & Diatribes ) So I have lots of experience with world building, adventure building and the like and I am always willing to offer some advice on the subjects.
