Seeking 'auditions' for players

Sounds wierd, but I'm serious. What we need: A 30 second to 1 min. vid of you explaining your character's backstory or goals, etc. (shouldn't be the character you're going to use, just be lively and show me you have imagination, verve, comedic talent or something) Why: You'll have an audience. What that means for you as a player: Nothing. The game will be played exactly as it would have been. Online, with cams, using roll20 for various visual aids, rolling etc. You should expect to bring your (rollplaying) A game. Power gamers aren't needed, just people with something interesting to watch. Likewise, experienced 5e players aren't needed (as the DM is new to this system as well). What that means for you, technologically: We need players who have access to a cam, mic, decent lighting, reliable internet connection What's in it for you: For now, just the ability to play a game. The details will be worked out with the chosen parties, but suffice it to say that actual pay *may* be in the future if the cards line up just right. Having fun and roleplaying are the short term goals. When: Depending on the players requirements, our production window is open for Tues - Thurs, 6 - 10ish Central time. Not all of those days or hours will be taken up, obviously, but those are the current slots available. The game will start as soon as we get enough entries to make an informed choice. Where: Doesn't matter. All online for now. I'm typing this on the way out the door, so I am more than certain I missed a few things, but that's the gist. You can email me vids or links to the vids at jam.douglas@yahoo.com The vids I feel have the most promise I will be making skype calls for followup conversations before making the final decisions. Thanks all and GOOD LUCK! (oh and TELL YOUR FRIENDS. If you don't want to be on camera for the world to maybe see, but you have that one charismatic gamer friend, girlfriend, spouse, mortal enemy... just have them send in instead. That way, you can laugh at all of THEIR gaming mistakes FOREVER! :)
Apologies for the mistype in the title. If an admin could edit the title to mention it's D&D 5e, that'd be great? Otherwise, I can repost and delete.
This sounds an awful lot like a job interview. The bit about being paid to play in particular makes me itch a little bit. Based on the emphasis on webcams, if I had to hazard a guess I'd say you're looking at broadcasting your game using Twitch or a similar service, and that the tentative pay element would come from ad revenue? If that's the case, you've omitted very, very important information. Your applicants need to know that they're potentially going to be monetized, up front, since this gets into very dicey waters of likenesses as intellectual property and the terms of compensation and personal responsibility are intentionally ambiguous. If this isn't what you meant, feel free to disregard me, but otherwise it is *very* unethical to not mention this. It also changes the sort of applicants you might receive; playing to "an audience" of 3-4 people and a DM is very different from playing to "an audience" of everyone on Twitch. That said, I do feel like I'd probably be interested in *watching* entertaining people tell a story. I think there could be a market for that. Good luck with your project.
I'm not sure how I didn't cover that in the post. Its called an audition for that reason. I mentioned this might be monetized and that compensation would be discussed further with interested parties. As stated in the post, for now, this is a game to run. Interested parties will be fully apprised of what will need to happen for compensation to happen. I feel like all this was crystal clear from the start. If not, apologies.

Thanks, Gauss, and apologies. On topic regarding the campaign itself, there has been some local interest in possibly using Pathfinder instead of 5ed. Those entries received thus far have been informed and most seem to actually prefer this system. Regardless of the system, it will be kept (loosely) to a fantasy genre. (with some 'steam' thrown in for good measure, with DM approval)
