Unable to clear my campaign's chat logs.

For the last week I've been trying to clean the chat logs out of one of my campaigns, since, once I backed it up and saved it to my hard drive, I noticed it was over 2000kb. Reading the old logs causes the browser on each of my machines to lock up for a short while as it has to load absolutely everything. It was time to clean those things. Problem: I can't. Whenever I click "clear chat logs" my browser locks up and then I get a popup that says "general connectivty error" and then the logs remain uncleared. This problem is absolutely ridiculous, it's been going on for at least a week and I've experienced it on three different computers, and even on a completely different connection in a different household across the city. I need to clear this thing so that it's useable, my group relies on the feature as we do everything by text. I know for a fact this never used to happen, even with large files, because 2000kb of log data isn't even the largest I've ever downloaded off Roll20.
If you wish to permanently clear the chat archive from your campaign you can do that using the "Clear Chat Archive" option on the campaign details page. Be aware that this will whip out the archive completely. The "Clear Current Chat Log" button available when you are inside the campaign only temporarily clears the archive until you reload the campaign. If I've misunderstood what you're trying to do, please let me know and I'll see if we can find a way to accomplish it.
Yes, this is exactly what I've tried to do several times. From the campaign details page I am trying to clear the chat log, and it does not work.

Please post your campaign details link (not the join link) and I will forward this to the Devs.

Ok, I have forwarded this to the Devs. They will probably also want a console log from when it tries to clear the chat log. Please go to https://wiki.roll20.net/Solving_Technical_Issues and follow the steps (especially step 4).
I did steps 1 to 3 to see if step 4 was necessary... and now my entire campaign is screwed up. I can't see the map and the chat log on the right doesn't scroll properly. Currently using the most current version of Firefox and the only addons I have are the newest versions of adblock plus, imgur image uploader, and google image serach for firefox.

Cayden , Adblock Plus has been known to be a problem. Please disable it. Alternately, you can try using Chrome.

Disabling AdBlock didn't accomplish anything, but using Chrome fixed THAT issue. Unfortunately, this is not an alternative I'd like to stick with, because I switched to Firefox due to dissatisfaction with Chrome in the first place. Anyway, I guess the next step in my initial problem is step 4 on what you sent me, but I'm confused as to what page I'm supposed to do this on? The problem doesn't lie with the anything in app.roll20.net/editor/ as far as I can tell, because the button to clear the logs from my campaign come directly from from the campaign details page. Edit: Chrome is also giving me the exact same error as Firefox when I try to clear my chat logs.

I tried step 4 using Chrome on the campaign details page and got this: Failed to load resource: net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT https://partner.googleadservices.com/gpt/pubads_impl_52.js Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 504 (Gateway Time-out) https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/campaign_clearchat/142769 Edit: Disabling adblock gave this: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 504 (Gateway Time-out) https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/campaign_clearch... So I guess we can't scapegoat adblock for whatever's happening :(
Okay I've identified my own problem, Possibly. The sheer size of the logs seems to be causing the gateway time-out when I attempt to clear them. I made another campaign and typed "test" several times to generate a tiny chat log. I viewed and confirmed roll20's servers indeed picked up this log, then attempted to clear it from the secondary campaign's info page. It worked, immediately erasing the second campaign's chat log. Unfortunately, this still does not fix my initial problem, I do not want to erase my first campaign and start from scratch.

you can clone and extend your campaign with everything selected other than the chat log. You will have to reassign any character sheets back to your players (if I remember correctly) but that is a work around.
Oh! That's actually very helpful! Thank you! This will work for now, I'll just have to clear my logs sooner than every 2000kb :p

I use to copy and paste the chat logs for my games into a specific campaign forum thread then clear the log after every session or at least before the next one.
I think maybe you deleted the campaign you linked before? If not and you still want me to clear the chat log let me know and I can do it manually for you.

Just a note, Firefox *seems* to be less able to handle large events than Chrome is. It has been kicking back errors more often. So when you hit a problem like this try Chrome to see if there is a problem in both browsers.
Oh, yeah I went ahead and deleted that campaign when I learned I could clone it. Worked like a charm, we have an exact copy we all have access to except no overwhelmingly large chatlog.
