Quick Question on dual wielding dice throw. D&D 5E

If a character dual wields two shortswords (1d6) and they attack a target, do they roll one 6 sided die for both attacks in total? Or, do they roll twice, 1d6 for each individual sword? I hope this made sense, if you need any clarity on the question just let me know.

Hey xcessive, sorry to be the messenger but this is off topic for our forums. While it mentioned reddit I would recommend to hop over to WoTC forum and get the answer straight from them as they were the ones that designed the system. I also have to close this thread. Good luck and have a good game. Official message below This thread is off-topic for our site. We only permit discussion that is specific to Roll20 (which you can read about in our Code of Conduct ). Since this is a general RPG question, you'd be better served posting it on a general RPG site, like reddit.com/r/rpg.
