We've Added Status Tags to the Suggestions Forum

As of tonight we've added "status tags" to the Suggestions Forum. The tags we're using (and what we mean by them) are as follows currently: In Development: This feature is being actively worked on right now (as in, code is being written for it). This means it will most likely appear in the next update or two, depending on how "large" the feature ends up being. So think "short term, this is definitely coming". We won't label something as In Development unless we are really sure we can make it happen. It may not happen exactly as suggested, but we'll do our best to take the spirit of the suggestion and related comments into account as we build it. We may also ask questions in the suggestions thread itself to gather more feedback as we work on the suggestion. Long-Term: This is a feature we are definitely planning on doing, but it's a pretty big one or it just doesn't quite fit with what we're currently working on. However, it will happen in the future. Most likely this means 2 - 3 updates out. We can't give a specific date on this because no code has actually been written for it yet (except the most basic exploratory "is this even possible" code). But things that are "Long-Term" have priority over us starting on new suggestions. On Dev: This feature is currently on the Dev server for testing. It will definitely be a part of the next update as either a free or paid feature. Completed: We'll label something Completed when it has been deployed to Roll20 as either a free or paid feature. (Note that as of right now nothing is labeled with On Dev or Completed). Thanks!

Very very awesome! At what point will votes be returned from suggestions? I'm guessing Completed , but I can see some interesting dynamics with that... =D Speaking of Completed , will those tasks remain in the suggestions thread? (and if so, will they be sorted out of their current ranking?) Thanks!!
Yes, once it's completed the topic will be closed and any votes will be automatically "returned" to the original voters. They will remain...I'm not sure for how long. Probably when we have enough of them piled up to warrant it we'll add a special "View Completed" button or something similar.

Any reason to keep your votes attached to suggestions tagged "In Development"? I purposely didn't vote on things that were obviously in the communities favor a la "Folders in addition to tags for resource management" in order to give some other suggtions love.

I would recommend the votes being left in it otherwise the devs could look at it and go "Hmm no one is interested in it now. I guess we can stop working on it". I'm leaving mine as is till they are completed. Oh that is a personal opinion and not as a mod either.

That's pretty much what I was talking about above. It kind of seems like "If they're writing it now, the suggestion has served it's purpose and this is an opportunity to go promote other things I feel are important."

Having a suggestion marked "In Development" is exciting times. One of mine is. Looking forward to all the new features in the upcoming Development cycles, both the suggested and unexpected upgrades. My suggestion that's marked "in development" is building on a surprise feature that came out in the last update (z key to zoom a token) without much heralding beforehand. Since that came out, it has given me some new ideas for GM'ing and gameplay. It's a good feeling to see it marked In Dev now, and anticipate where it leads. Best wishes on the work that lies ahead, R20!
