Hi guys, I am a 40+ years old, Finnish player. I have played on roll20 quite a bit with my friends, but I would like to try an English speaking game. English is my second language, I am fluent but my speaking skills are a bit rusty. I have extensive experience from different playing systems, both as a Game Master and a player. I would eventually like to have my own games as a GM for new players, but before that I need to join as a player and see how other groups play, and have a bit more practise from gaming styles different from the one with my regular group. I am mainly interested in D&D 5th edition, but Pathfinder would be fine, too. I am available on weekends, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Timezone in Finland is GMT+2, but I can play any time between GMT+2 6pm Friday to 11pm Sunday. I work on weekdays, so those days are probably not good. I am willing to either play a one shot first, or to a weekly or biweekly game. My playing style varies, but I think I'm mainly a 'problem solver'. When I get to know the other players and the GM a bit better I like the roleplaying aspect, but I know that at first I tend to follow the lead of other more active players. This is why I think I'd like to play a character more focused on combat, like a fighter. I try to make interesting characters, but English as a second language and my Finnish-born nature prevents flamboyant speeches and makes characters social side suffer a bit. But this might be putting myself down, I don't know until I get a chance to try. I have one general question: Is it usually required that players use video chat? I would like to play with sound only, I am a bit too self-conscious when using video. Is that a big problem? I would love a chance to try this online play with strangers, join a game and make new friends. Thank you!
