@ Mark, @ Anthony, @ Boris I am a DM who is looking for 1 or 2 of the right players for my AD&D 2E homebrew campaign. If you think that my description sounds like it might be a fit of what you are looking for, contact me on the side with a private message asking about 2E Homebrew and tell me about yourself and your background with 2nd edition in particular and older-school D&D in general. I'd like to audition you and see how it goes, especially someone who reads this message and can say why they would want to play this and what you can bring to the table to enhance the campaign. I'm really trying to find a certain style of creative players, motivated and engaged Players yet patient and flexible people for this campaign. My 2E campaign, gameplay style is based on some things like Character development, story, and journaling -- I'll try to mention some of these features to give the initial idea. You can filter yourself out if you're a power-gamer, rules lawyer, evil PC, or if you happen to be unavailable at the times I mention, I like to focus on character development (starting your PC off fairly weak but with a lot of potential and a big heart/spirit, and gradually growing your character/personality/powers into something heroic and unforeseen as the game progresses over a few months, so you are not a "build" of something that you plan ahead, but you are a character in the world reacting to what happens to you in the game). Also important is the story & just what happens. Players are encouraged to contribute stories, journals, or drawings (art, illustrations of your character or the events). You get XP for participating in the character development, story, and journals/drawings. You also get XP for defeating or avoiding monsters, and for solving mysteries and traps. We use theater of the mind for much of the combat portions (we do not use grids or squares on the map for combat positions). The maps are made by me. There are world maps, regional maps, bays, rivers, mountain ranges, continents, nations, wars, wilderness, and occasionally buildings and dungeons. Some of the adventures are based on classic AD&D adventure modules, others are my own homemade adventures and locations. Your PC might begin solo, and go solo'ing for a while until you rise up to Level 2 or Level 3 and meet the rest of the party. This is part of your origin story and starting small, but growing into a larger hero later in the game. You will begin near your "place of origin" and journey individually or in pairs towards a town where the party is likely to meet each other for the first time in a few weeks or months. The overall division is roughly 1/3 combat, 1/3 exploration of dungeons & wilderness & and mysteries to uncover, 1/3 roleplaying and character development / character expression. We use Skype for voice. No camera. Game times would be variable and possibly flexible, but mainly focused on Week Days USA times. Example, Monday afternoon, Tuesday Afternoon or Wednesday mid-day USA Central time. Reply to me directly talking about what interests you & your background, mention 2E homebrew, if this seems like your kind of gameplay style.
