Subscriptions for non-DMs

Apologies if this is the wrong forum for the question (this looks like an 'everything can be filed under miscellaneous' place); In simple terms, what are the benefits to a Mentor subscription for someone who doesn't run games, only plays? (beyond the obvious 'supporting development of the platform you enjoy playing on', of course, as you can see that's a good enough reason for me in itself). Looking through the details, it looks like everything is a 'this is good for games you DM!', without too much 'this will be good for you as a player!'

If you click on the support us button (black banner at the top, next to the colored bar), it will take you to the account features list. There it will show you a break down of what each account has access to.

ok, I'm at a computer instead of my phone. I'm assuming you have gone there already (you mention details which is what I pointed to). As just a player, you can get by with just the free account. The supporter account (for a player) gives you ad free access, character vault, and mobile support (tablet and some phones). The mentor account (for a player) gives you everything the supporter gets, free tokens, and access to the mentor forum (that is where some of the interesting stuff is talked about). Now as a GM, you get to use all the toys and bells but that is for another question.
There are a few features that can be taken advantage of as a player-- like the Character Vault for example. That said, the paid features are activated by the creator of the game-- so as a player you can always start a game up that someone else runs to have the advanced features like Dynamic Lighting and Mobile Support as part of your experience.
Thanks for the replies :)
The supporter account (for a player) gives you ad free access... There's ads on this site? I had no idea!

They are there when you enter the campaign game itself. Free account users see the ads while waiting for the game to load.

Ad blockers can interfere with roll 20, i switch mine off when in roll 20.

I'm lucky I guess since I have yet to need to alter or disable my addons
The original topic was "Subscriptions for Non-GMs" and I would like to say that, if you can afford it, get a subscription. Many people think the internet is free, but the fact is it costs money, server fees, salaries, artwork... This is a business as well as an avocation for the staff at roll 20. Supporting this venture can only make what is pretty amazing already better. The cost is pretty low, one less pizza a month will cover it.

I heartily agree with al e on this as member (not a mod). The stuff you get for the low cost is incredible and if you game just once a week, which probably most of everyone does that at a minimum, comes out to less than $1.50 (supporter level) or $2.50 (mentor level) per week and it gets cheaper if you by it in bulk (yearly). Can you spend less than that on a weekly game elsewhere in real life? I know I couldn't in my situation. Face to face 40 miles one way to the nearest game store which means round trip is about 4 gallons of gas.(that is about $10 at this moment) drinks and snacks (probably another $5 or $10) time spent to, from and gaming is at least 5hrs or more. Roll20 Subscription (10 per month at the most) snacks and drinks laying around the house (?) Time spent to and from is 0 hrs time spent on gaming (as long as I want). So in my opinion the subscription gives more value then the cost which is terrific for any user of roll20.

One does need a game store to play pen and paper? We just meet up in one guys house which is 0$s, self made food and gaming time as long as one wants and can too. ^^ But i agree, the features are really great, and if credit cards were not the only payment option id be subscripted too. :)
