Potential Vampire Solution?

So I was talking to my friend about vampire weaknesses and he gave the idea of going to a library and researching. I wonder if Strongmoor has a library or an archive of sorts.that we can research in?
We could also try the lawful temple. They should have an idea of how to take out the vamps. I still hope the one legend of killing the master freeing the minions from the curse is possible. I would really rather not have to kill the kids.
We need to lock them down, though, so they stop eating our shopkeepers. How are we going to keep the rats in cheese if they take the Cheesemaker?
We REALLY need to go around town at the beginning of the next session and talk to the Mayor, the Sheriff, and maybe Grom again. We need to let people know whats happening.
How are we going to detain vampires? Can we put them in manacles? Will our sleep/hold person spells work on them (at least long enough for us to get them locked down)? Once we have the kids "imprisoned" we can work on a way to remove the spell from the other people in the house. Otherwise, we will need to let the other towns people know about the vamps, go in and take the non-vamp family members, break the spells on them and tell them we have to destroy the vamps. Can we buy silver holy symbols in Stilt Town? I just converted from Brass to Krotus in the last session, so I will need a holy symbol for that god.

No, no silver in stilt town. On an unrelated note, I need to ask steve if Grom or the Dwarves at the Dwarven colony can make me a special weapon. Im thinking a two handed waraxe. Or onehanded so I can weild it and Ex Morticus
Custom-made weapons absolutely (to be priced near similar size shape, plus additional fee for not having it on hand.) If you want to make this next Friday the deal with vampires game, I've already done some prep work on stuff going on with the family, the town, etc to help me adjudicate the actions you take. There is no library or person wise enough in Stilt Town, but you think Strongmoor's Temples and Priests might have an idea. There is a library there too I think, but it is probably located in the palace and belongs to the King. Oh, and you are starting to hear rumors about how some thankless heroes have rescued a bunch of kidnapped kids and helped return them to their families. Nothing is directly tied to you guys of course, but it must be nice to hear about your deeds.
Ka'Gron has decided that what he went through was a result of his greed and evil deeds and wishes to sell his chaotic sword and use the earnings to forge a war axe formed in the likeness of Krotus and also to worship Krotus as his god.
See, you go around poking things with a stick and things poke you back... You can't let this deter you from your game play. We're all growing now and we can "fix" some of the bad things that happen with these cursed items. Hopefully we can get a magic-user to level 6 soon so they can use resurrection. Since I'm only level 5 I can only carry "Cure Disease" or "Remove Curse" with me (because I only get one level 3 spell), but I'm not far from level 6 where I could carry both. While I am able to hold up in battle, as a cleric, my priority is to take care of our party. That's why I carry the spells I do; "Silence" has worked well for us, "Speak with Animals" kept us from serious damage from the rats (yes we probably could have killed them all, but not without more bites/damage). Point is, I could choose more defensive spells to protect myself, but I'm not that player. If you want to continue touching mysterious items, I say go for it! If something bad happens and I can fix it, I will do that. It can't rain all the time, eventually something good has to come out of these things. We rescued you, that was my priority in controlling the rats. If the rats didn't work, I also would have used "Hold Person" to try to find what happened. Trading for the rat treasure was okay but we could have eventually gone back and found that. I would have preferred to keep the rum, I think we possibly could have gotten more for it, but maybe we'll find more. It seems a shame though that the group will no longer have that sword, it may be nice in the future to have that additional attack. Is there no one else in the party that can wield it? But we are going to need to have the dwarves make you a chastity belt to keep this from happening again!
With all our chaotics slowly getting converted by Ramkus (which I assume preaches every night after dinner) we do still have one left, however I do not think they are a fighting man. Vesron(sp?)? He is a thief isn't he? We also have a chaotic cleric however, no swords there either. Besides that, with the xp we earned last game I think I might have made it to lvl 4 so I can be much more help soon.
As Ka'Gron prepares to sell the sword he is overcome by a foreboding feeling that this is not a wise decision. He takes his sword and continues to wield it, also still clinging to his chaotic ways. He likes torturing too much to give up being chaotic.
Due to common sense, you would know that without the support of the town's authorities that you would have to be careful not to break these laws . You suspect that breaking one of these in the open would draw a near-immediate response from authorities and perhaps even other townsfolk.
I simply meant that he kept it, not that he went brandishing it around town. hank you for the reminder though.
No, my comment was directed towards the conversation about dealing with the vampires.
Ah, of course, silly me, forgot about that.

Rich/Ramkus and I were talking after our session was over. Instead of taking out the vamps in Stilt Town, we go in during daylight, drag the coffins out of the house, take them to Baalor and put them in the river then open the coffins. The book said immersing them in running water will kill them, so if the sunlight isn't enough we have that. The cleric's could cast Silence (or our magic users can cast sleep) on the house so the family can't warn them (even though they are pretty much trapped in their coffins during daylight). We should have the townspeople help us do a sweep of every building in town to make sure there aren't any others. Let's not forget to check for traps when we remove the coffins!

Sounds like a good plan to me. Do we know if sleep will work on them since they are unnatural creatures?
Just FYI, but Thea (and all Thieves) can use small and normal weapons. Consider us please when they are available as we don't have anything to add to fights when we go up against magical creatures unless we have a magical weapon. We can backstab with any weapon we have as long as we are hidden and unnoticed. Thanks! --- Your local Thieves Guild
Well the cleric's don't have any magical weapons right now either. Not saying we should have them and you shouldn't, we just need to make sure these things are distributed amongst our group. But hopefully we can get the vamps cleared out of town without us having to engage them in combat. We'll have more time to quest and find better gear before we start encountering real baddies. Maybe if certain parties don't show for the next quest, you can wield the loaner from Grom? If I were level 7 (only 23688 XP to go), I could possibly turn the vamps (depending on a roll of 11 or better). But right now my only effective weapon against these vampires is my brain (scraping the bottom of the barrel there!). Kevin, regarding the spells... I'm not saying we should use them on the vamps, I'm saying we should use it on the other people in the house. If they are asleep, they cannot do anything to awaken the vampires, they can't stop us from removing them from the house and there is less chance we will hurt them when we have to move against the children.

OH yeah of course. You have to excuse Gorg's brain sometimes.

Clerics can cast spells and Turn Undead (eventually even vampires I would think). It does suck, though, that no bashing type magical weapons have been found - though I think some Clerics did get Magic Armor and Shields. I was told, though, that every time a magical item is found (and I'm not at the computer), that Thea gets discounted as being able to take it because she is a thief and people think she can only use daggers. Mages are the only class that can only use daggers. Thieves can use every weapon except Battle Axe, Heavy War Hammer, Pole Arm and Two-handed Sword (the Two-Handed Weapons).
Tell your hubby to speak up for you when you have to take care of the minion! Better yet, steal Gorg's +2 spear! Throw it from hiding, then wield your dagger for the next attack. Heck, let me know when you're going to back stab a biggie and I'll cast Striking on you. A +1 bonus to combat “to hit” rolls and delivering an extra 1-6 hit points of damage. Duration in rounds is equal to my level (which is 6 right now). As long as I haven't already used another spell or if I am going to cast something that would benefit a bigger part of the group (silence, speak w/ animals) I'd be glad to give you that boost. I do have the mithril armor, and I think Ramkus has the +1 shield now. Both clerics have defensive advantages, which makes sense as we are the "medics". I can't heal you if I'm dead! The +2 sword is just on loan to us from Grom while we dispatch the vampires. At best (level 14 and on) I will be able to turn vampires with a roll of 5 or better, at level 7 I will need an 11 or better. But we're going to deal with them right now, and I feel very useless because other than smack them with a silver hammer/mace, I can't touch them. I'll be hiding behind my large shield that Grom attached my holy symbol to.
Well we shouldnt even have to fight, as long as we wake up at dawn seems like your plan should go off without a hitch. I even have some chain we could chain the coffins with in the silence just in case.
Two questions... Are vampires chaotic? And as a bishop, can I bless things (as in the chains, make holy water)?
When you guys deal with the vampires today, think of this as a vampires with training wheels experience; you will be fighting more of these things deeper in the palace.

Me Too! And Why go through all the trouble of taking them out to Baalor? Can we not just carry their coffins outside and flip the lids? And have buckets of water close by just in case they burst into flames of course.

That is a misunderstanding. Thea shouldn't be getting magic armor. All magic armor in D&D is plate armor, except for things like displacer cloaks, and other AC reducing magical equipment. Thieves don't tend to get higher AC as they level, and will instead rely on hiding during battle to remove themselves as an attack target. Many magical weapons can be held by a thief, however they have to be careful handling lawful or chaotic aligned stuff. In other news I have fleshed out the Sea Adventures section of my DM rules. I'm trying to brush up on actions that can be taken and stuff like ramming etc., but I am well prepped for sea encounters now. I know there is the chaotic cleric that needs to visit Amon Sin to get his spells, so that should be considered. I also have been brushing up on mass combat rules to adjudicate those massive battles alot easier. I'll even let you guys use the Planet Eris mass combat rules to manage groups of sailors or marines.

I do want to deal with the vampires in town but high on my list is traveling to Amon Sin. Saw it on the map way back in our early days and thought "I want to go there!"
