Would it be possible to allow the original poster of a thread to close and reopen it? This would allow certain threads like game threads to be closed when the game becomes full and be reopened by the original poster when (s)he needs to recruit again.
I can't think of any forums where I have seen the opener able to open and close the thread and the same being unable to reopen a thread the mod closed that they started. For your mentioned purposes, It you can post "game full" and make another post latter saying a spot opened. that said: the starter of the thread being able to close his own thread (if that can't be done right now, no experience starting a thread on roll20 personally) would probably be a good idea, even if they couldn't open it again.
I just make a new thread whenever I run a pick-up game.

In the forum where I'm an admin we set permissions in our play by post section where the original post can close and open their threads. It helps them in controlling their game. I know not all forums are setup that way but I was just wondering about if it is feasible. It's no big deal as your suggestion And p. works fine also. Have fun and game away.
This would especially be nice in the campaign forum. I was using a thread to keep up the game calendar. After several sessions that took place over a single day (and thus no need to update the calendar), the thread closed and I couldn't add a new entry when the game finally resumed.
