Pathfinder GM, looking for a Play by Post group. (playing Kingmaker, most likely)

**Re-opening post. Need to fill a slot or two. (Expanding to possibly 6 players :) ) We currently have a play by post (text based) game of Kingmaker running here on Roll 20. It is a great game. We need to expand to 6 players for more variety, and a player dropped for family tragedy reasons. Ask any questions. :)
Is the game you are recruiting for PbP? Or is it here on roll20? The post is kind of confusing...

I've not tried a PbP game before, honestly. I might be interested in giving it a go. What format are we talking here? Posting in a Roll20 campaign forum? within a Roll20 map with the chat window? etc. How do you work out order of responses so players don't step over each other?

There are some things that are better than IRL gaming (post anytime, roleplay is much more in depth, everyone's character gets to shine a lot more, etc) , and some things that are worse (combat, namely). I have been running and playing on them on the Paizo (Pathfinder) forums for a few years, and I just got tired of swapping back and forth ( i store my maps and handouts here), so we tried a PbP here, and the group is loving it so far. We "post" in the chat thread, using different formats depending on what we are doing. As far as players stepping over each other, it happens, just like in real life... ha. We use something called a "flextime" thread within the campaign forum if someone logs on after a conversation has seen its course, or - more likely - I want to move the game on to the next thing, and I want said players to quit bantering with each other, or said NPC. We would be logging in 2 to 3 times a day to check in and see if there are any new updates, happenings, etc. Weekends and holidays and birthdays are a little lighter load, usually. Here is a PbP that I ran on the Paizo website. I like it much better here on Roll20 so far. It is the same type of system here, with a few modifications. http://paizo.com/campaigns/GMBraydensPFSFirstStepsInServiceToLoreGroup2/gameplay&page=1
Oh, so I didn't describe the "flex time" thread. Basically that thread exists outside of time so that players can have in depth conversations with each other, or NPCs (if they choose) and though it is part of the game, the conversation can happen without everyone else waiting for "those two" to quit flirting already so that we can go down into the next level of the dungeon, etc.
Are you starting at level 1? I have a Pathfinder character I played to level 5 on Roll20 before the group broke up. Been looking for an opportunity to continue to develop his story. PbP works great for me and my schedule allows for at least 2 posts a day. I can share the short background I wrote if you want to get a sense for the character and for my writing.

That sounds good. We are starting at level 1. :)
Ernest T. said: Hello! I am potentially interested in joining this game. I've never played a text-based or PbP campaign before, but I've always been very interested to see how it might work. I love the idea of a campaign that could work without having to worry about X-number of people all showing up reliably at a given day and time, and in which the creativity and fun is "spread out" so that it can be enjoyed every day. The best groups I've been a part of have been those in which everyone loved to chat about the game all through the week, either on skype or on message boards... so I imagine a campaign that is actually played every day in this way would be my cup of tea. I've also wanted to try kingmaker for quite a while, and the "downtime" aspect of campaigns has always been one of my favorites. I've been tabletop gaming off and on since childhood, and I'm pretty well versed in the pathfinder mechanics. I have a good operational knowledge of roll20, having played in several different campaigns here, as well as tinkered around designing my own maps and such. I work from home, so if the campaign really takes off, I could check it all the time and post as much as necessary. I tend to get invested in games, and can err on the side of verbosity, so if anything, you might have to ask me to stop posting quite so much! There are several character concepts I could pitch, but in truth I'd prefer to hear about the setting first. I think a character should be molded to fit the world, not the other way around- I like to think I am a very "GM friendly" player when it comes to such things. Send me a message if you think you might still have a spot open, or have any questions. On skype my handle is "ernest.tn" if you wanted to shoot me a message there. Well met. We have some pretty invested players thus far so you would feel right at home if you got an invite. :)

Is it too late to join up? 'Cause I'm loving the sound of this. I've never played a game quite like this, although I have some experience with pbp on other forums and have a good grasp on the pathfinder system. Other play-by-posts I have participated in have been hugely enjoyable, but always suffered for the lack of a rule set to define a player's capabilities or (heaven forbid) settle fights between PCs. Like Ernest I too have been wanting to try Kingmaker for a while. Heard nothing but praise for it. I should be available to make a post or two on most weekdays, and I'm reglularly on Skype for chatter between players. Finding a character should be easy. I'm fairly experienced as a GM, but not nearly so much as a player. As a result I have a million character concepts I want to try. Finding something that fits the group shouldn't be a problem.

We might still be looking for a spot. Thanks for the interest. I'll contact the players and see what they want to do.
Filled up all our spots. I will edit my first post. Mods can lock if you wish :)
