Preliminary augur sweep on the system reveals that there are eleven massive planets including two gas giants, and an anomalous gas giant with around a third the mass but ten times the diameter of a normal gas giant, as well as one inhabited mining world of Octavian which like most of the planets in the system lacks an atmosphere despite their heavy gravity. The NV-1078 system also has a double ring of asteroid belts, one rings the edge of the system, the other is close to middle of the system and would appear to be shrinking as the highly dense planets in the system attract and rob the asteroid belt of mass. There is also an anomalous object that the sweep detects on the surface of the giant red star at the center of the solar system, but solar flares make it impossible to identify without getting closer. After about two weeks of automated augur sweeps, the Marathon also detects two Imperial vessels in orbit of Octavian, another Orion class star clipper and a Repulsive class grand cruiser. Assuming that the heretics void ship spent this time traversing the system, avoiding various navigational hazards such as both asteroid fields and headed toward the mining world, would still be difficult for the Marathon's abominable intelligence to make a positive identification of their transponder beacons as you are currently 350,000 VU away, too far for visual identification. The other Imperial vessels are currently docked together in orbit around the mining world because the Repulsive grand cruiser is so large that it has four berths attached to it that can be used for void ship repair and retrofitting. It is certainly probable that the Imperial vessels would have detected the Marathon by the time that the Marathon detects them. Likely, the other Imperial vessels would have tried to establish Astropathic contact with the Marathon, however the heretics lack any Astropaths, making such contact impossible. Scans also indicate debris from a recent space battle, spent macrocannon shells and flak, as well as a crippled Endeavour class light cruiser that is adrift 100,000 VU from the Marathon and approximately 250,000 VU from the mining planet that your charts designate as Octavian.
