In a dystopian future where World War 3, and the nuclear weaponry used, has forced innumerable families into safe houses deep underground called Vaults, something has happened to the wildlife that no one of the age would have even imagined possible. When five Vault-dwellers are forced from the safety of their underground home, they are thrust into a world they thought they would never have to experience. The strange monsters outside certainly aren't going to make the experience any easier. Setting: Before we go any further, I am placing a very adult rating on this game. This is due to the abundance of themes like vicious and gory murder, drug use, sex, slavery, and torture that will be described in-game. So... DO NOT EVEN ASK TO JOIN IF YOU CANNOT BE MATURE, AND ARE NOT AT LEAST 18. Now that the disclaimer is out of the way: For fans of the Fallout series of video games, the inspiration is apparent. However, this game does not require any Fallout knowledge that cannot be found either here, or in the first few posts once the game begins. I will be drawing the most inspiration for the game from Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, as those are the game I am most familiar with, but those will by no means define the setting. We will be in a completely custom wasteland located on and around the Gulf of Mexico, so if you can bring any information from the real world, feel free. However, I am not NEARLY as familiar with the nuances of Fallouts 1, 2, and Tactics, so if one of those games takes place in a similar region... Ignore it. Familiar elements from the games will show up, such as the Brotherhood of Steel and Enclave, Ghouls, Super Mutants, Deathclaws, and various Nuka~Cola Paraphernalia. Again, this does not mean that you should feel threatened by the setting; it will be very easy to grasp. The game will be quite dark, thematically (as stated above), but in keeping to Fallout's inspiration, it will also feature some humor. Character Creation: There will be some fairly solid restrictions on creation. Know this: all of these restrictions are based solely on the fact that the setting itself if fairly strict. I'm not trying to staunch anyone's creativity and once the game begins feel free to think as out of the box as you can. In-fighting and death can definitely happen. But never for no reason. Flaming two-headed miltanks will rain from the sky on those that cannot wrap their heads around this simple concept. The Blessed and the Damned is the only fully unavailable splatbook, but literally everything else is going to be fairly case-by-case. Trainers are level 1 You may begin play with a weapon of choice or elemental connection that you meet the prereqs for but it does not count toward your first three. This is due to the purpose of this vault, which is military training of civilians for the increased safety of the population If you do not take one of the above edges, you must explain what job you have (janitorial, cooking, etc.) or another reason why you are behind in your training. This will need to be discussed with me and I do not suggest this route unless you ARE familiar with the setting. Elementalists are fluffed as people who have been implanted with a special Vault-Tec implant. Starting pokemon are INCREDIBLY restricted, though there will be a chance to get "better" mon soon after the game begins. Starting pokemon must be underdog, non-pseudo, and non-fossil. Types for starters are limited to normal, and bug types whose achieval could be easily explained when pokeballs are not present (examples include rattata, caterpie, purrloin [but NO MEOWTH], and wurmple). Level 5 and purebred because of the limited availability of mates. Act as if the mon is bred by a hatcher with the Hatcher, Birthright, and Complex Personality features and a master level Pokemon Education skill. Roll for a mechanical shiny roll on a 98-100 or a glitched 'mon on a 1-3. This is not a mandatory gamble, but you do keep your roll and cannot give them to other people. Purely aesthetic shinies, such as color changes and small shape changes, may be applied at will. No cash to start with. If you are playing a class that requires some sort of material components, then you'll need to ensure you have an in game job that reflects that role if you would like to requisition materials from the Overseer. This applies to crafting edges as well. --- The game will take place in a Play-by-Post format in a personal forum, here on Roll20. Characters will be chosen in precisely 1 week, less if interest is limited. I'm sure I'm missing something. Ask away. Also, this as originally posted on the forums for the Pokemon: Tabletop United game and was formatted accordingly. Let me know i anything is confusing here.
