Game Today?

Is there a game today guys? I thought I heard Steve say it would only be Friday, but I'm not sure.

I thought I heard Friday.
Probably so, just checking, thanks.
The Wednesday game is only when Freddy can't make the Friday game.
Yeah Friday is the game. I need to figure out if I will run a game on Wednesday or Friday next week though. We'll talk about the schedule next game.

Amanda and I are out next week, so no session for us.
Oh, I thought we had two sessions a week.
We used to when Wednesday was our Primary day and Friday was the Extra day. Most people seemed hip on moving to Friday as our Primary day so we could game late, so Wednesday then became only an Extra day when Freddy had something planned for a Friday.
Yeah, but for about two weeks there we were having two games a week even if Freddy wasn't available.
Yea - that's when Wednesday was our Primary day and Friday was our Bonus Day. Everything changed when the majority of people wanted to move to Friday as the Primary day in order to be able to play late. When we switched to Friday as our Primary Day, Wednesday became the Bonus Day ONLY when Freddy wouldn't be able to play that Friday. Freddy has made the past few Friday's so we haven't had a Wednesday game in awhile - Halloween week being the exception since we had no game on Friday.
Oh, I see, thank you. But can we talk to Steve about two games a week? Would you guys be up to it?

I personally won't be able to make every session if we go back to twice a week. I'm running a 5e campaign and soon a DCC campaign, so I need to keep my schedule a little free.
When are you starting that campaign that you were talking to me about a little while ago?

January. I want to start after the holidays so there's no conflicts in scheduling right out of the gate.
I was looking to add a Saturday/Sunday game. I have no idea what DCC is and have zero experience out from this group but if anyone knows of another 0DnD or something more fancy they think I can learn I would love to add another game.
DCC is basically a mix between AD&D 1st or 2nd edition, with an alternate complex set of rules instead of the common ones. It tries to shoehorn in the abilities and feats of 3.5 but in a way that makes those abilities more flexible and descriptive. It is still a super restrictive ruleset because you can't just tell the DM what you want to do, you still have to have an ability that letshe you perform that action. Also magic is super crazy and randomized all the way down to the spell effect and how it performs a particular task. For example I had a spell to summon food and the effect was that it turned objects into food items; I used it to turn a giant evil expensive looking statue into cookies. Effectiveness of the spell is also randomized so it's never really at the power or effect that you want. I found that it can be fun for a one off adventure, but I never can get attached to my characters or vested into a game because it is too random. Roll20 has other d&d basic games going, which should be similar. Swords and Wizardry is probably the closest ruleset to this.

Rich that DCC game will be on Tuesdays anyway. I would look for Swords & Wizardry or just OSR/Old-School games if you're looking for something similar to the OD&D/Eris game. Steve, I have to disagree about DCC having anything near 3.5 feats - unless you mean Warrior's Mighty Deeds which is about as freeform as you can get. I think DCC happens to make the demi-humans (race as class) actually cool to play. The power/effect and randomness of spellcasting is controlled by Spellburning, voluntary corruption, and burning Luck. Sorry... just came out of a super fun session @ Dragon's Lair so I'm all high on DCC. My Elf now has permanently chattering teeth and gained 45 pounds from his corruptions haha. Anyway, it's not for everyone but it does lean heavily on the old school "rulings before rules" way of playing.

Rich and anyone else interested, I think I'm going to go ahead and run a game on Saturdays (sudden inspiration). It can't start until Dec 6th and we'll be using Swords & Wizardry Complete. S&W Complete is essentially OD&D with all of the original supplements, so that means there will be additional classes to choose from. Let me figure out which optional rules in S&WC I want to use and I'll get a campaign setup. I would like to keep the campaign semi-casual, meaning that there are going to be some Saturdays that it can't happen. Private message me if anyone's interested so we're not littering up this forum. You can get the S&W Complete rules free here: http://www.rpgnow.com/product/86546/Swords-and-Wizardry-Complete-Rule-Book?term=swords+wizardry+com
I need to read that. I think Planet Eris rules used it as a basis for the damage, to-hit progression, and saving roll system. I might join in. Create a separate forum topic on here and I'll make sure I don't delete it. I regularly go through the topics and delete stuff that isn't long-term useful.
