Campaign Background : You are a newly promoted Sergeant of the 117th Elysian Drop troopers. Bathed in the blood and horror of your last combat detail you were assigned to scout platoon M of Lima company (this must have come at some relief; considering that you know your next post is only a minor planet in the middle of the sector). While in warp transit to a patrol station, the 117th's transport ship received an distress signal . Your Commander will brief you on the distress signal once you report to Mustering bay Frexium Minor. Deta ils about campaign: 5pm EST Tuesdays 2 Main Characters per player along with a squad of comrades about 5-8 npc's in size. Im thinking however we would possibly do sessions twice a week instead of weekly. Back ground fluff for characters are very important VOIP comms are a must for this campaign sorry (the amount of information needed to be conveyed can't be done through text). This is an you have to apply campaign so please post answers to my questions below and contact details. -How many much of an backstory do you think is necessary to an character from one paragragh to a couple of pages. -How would you RP you character if say this happened 'Your character hates taking orders. He is a pretty self serving character that would rather die then give his ration of smokes up for free. Has conflicting goals then that of his superiors. However, Your character has been ordered to rescue an buddies squad (which means almost certain death for your character and his squad).' Also the rest of the group has decided to save him. Basically explain what you would have him do and why. - Do you expect to make friends in this campaign? - Which is more important Having Fun vs. Following Rules? Other then these questions this is all i have for you at the moment will delve more into story and character rules with updates to the post.

let me eloborate on my post each player is going to have a squad assigned to him (basically you the player get to make up an entire squad however your Sergeant will be your main character). And you will be able to chose something other then a sargent as your main character. Also don't worry you won't have to make up backstories for all of the squad members i can do that for you all you need to do is main character + 9 concept characters
This sounds interesting but what does VOIP mean?
voice over internet protocol ie skype, google+, etc.
Ah, thanks. Never seen that acronym here before.
I would be interested. To me it seems like this would be like chest, in that we are moving pieces (squads) over a map and trying to survive and get to an objective. I'd be game for that.
yeah just go ahead and answer my few questions (it's mainly so i can tailor the game)
1. Normally between one or two paragraphs are sufficient, however I myself have personally made 2.5 pages of backstory, from childhood to current events before, so it really just depends on how detailed a life you want for your character. 2. He would try to get the job done, but he wouldn't do it the traditional route if he feels like the original plan is so stupid he could do better. He would do what he could, but if he was certain death was literally a step away, he wouldn't risk his life for it and would make up a reasonable excuse to cover his ass. He would also try to convince others of his view, so he would have more people to support his story and views. 3. Of Course. 4. Fun should be the most important factor, Rule 0 and all, the rule of cool and such, but for the most part the rules should be followed.
nox you will be added into the campaign after i update the campaign on my side (probably tomorrow)
1) None at all, as long as some sort of character is there. I expect someone to create a character, but I don't assume they'll have it thought out before hand. 2) Very straight laced, do what must be done type of guy. He'll make the sacrifice stoically. 3) Absolutely 4) Fun. The rules are important, but they exist for the fun. I expect the DM to bend them when appropriate to increase enjoyment.
2 players need two more!
I would be intrested in the campaing, but what day of the week will it be? As for the questions: -I ussualy write up a few paragrahs for my characters, what was his background, where he grew up why did he deside to take up the life he is leading now. Mainly in broad strokes, and as I go along with this character I tend to shape up details. -He would stay back with his squad as much as possible, and I think his squad would be all for it, he would have most of the guys that are more or less like him, others wouldn't survive in that squad. He would let others take the brunt of the enemy fire, and see if it is possibel to complete the mission, if not he would pull back (if it's an option, you know, depends on a commisar's personality), if retreat is not an option he would try to hunker down and wait for backup. - Sure hope so. - Fun. As long as the person not trying to power game, in my oppinion it's totaly fine to deviate from the rules.

-A character should have at least a broad strokes of a backstory, so probably about two or three paragraphs. -He would wonder how to use this to advance his career. The incompetents running the show are both the safest and most powerful ones around. Now this mission, while stupidly dangerous, would be a good way to get noticed and perhaps promoted. So sure, he’ll reluctantly agree to save the other squad. If his squad dies as cannon fodder and meat shields, that’s acceptable. -Player friends, sure. Character friends? Can we spell that as possible pawns? -Having fun is defiantly much more important but you do need rules to guide what direction the fun goes in.
Bump this is still an Active LFP

I'm interested in playing though it depends on schedule and I doubt I could play more than once a week. That said, here are my answers. - How many much of an backstory do you think is necessary to an character from one paragraph to a couple of pages? I've always been a proponent of developing a character through gameplay moreso than what happened in the past so for me backstory is less important though it can be helpful. One paragraph is sufficient for most purposes but more is certainly fine. - How would you RP your character if say this happened; 'Your character hates taking orders. He is a pretty self serving character that would rather die then give his ration of smokes up for free. Has conflicting goals then that of his superiors. However, your character has been ordered to rescue an buddy's squad (which means almost certain death for your character and his squad).' Also the rest of the group has decided to save him. Basically explain what you would have him do and why. While not liking to have to take orders, it is a friend's squad he would be helping to rescue so I think he would do what he could, up to a point, to help accomplish that goal. That and Imperial Guard who are balky about following orders tend to run afoul of the Commisariat which usually does not end well. The nature of the difference between his goals and those of his superiors will determine in large part the tactics used to rescue his friend's squad. - Do you expect to make friends in this campaign? I don't expect it but it would be nice if it occured. - Which is more important Having Fun vs. Following Rules? Fun is always the highest priority but following the rules can help achieve that end.
I am intrigued are you still looking for players?
We are! Mind putting your skype on here so the GM can get in contact with you?
For Sure! And i'll go ahead and answer those questions as well Skype - GamerKnoob -How many much of an backstory do you think is necessary to an character from one paragragh to a couple of pages. I think it really depends upon how detailed said backstory is. I have see some people make a backstory that says everything you need to know in a couple paragraphs. I have seen others that take a few pages to get the point across. So I would say that answer can vary. In this situation I believe that I would take on the task of rescuing my friends squad. Not only because he is my friend but because my squad is already planning on doing so. Although I wouldn't hesitate to voice my opinion on how dangerous this is going to be and that there may be other paths we can take that would lead us to the same result and not result in my losing my life in the process of the rescue. - Do you expect to make friends in this campaign? Well I would hope to make friends. Anyone that I roleplay with I like to get to know in an attempt to befriend them. - Which is more important Having Fun vs. Following Rules? Having fun is definitely the more important of the two but that doesn't mean that you should just ignore the rules entirely. Sometimes rules are needed to keep things running smoothly.
this is what i get for sleeping in i PMED you both! :P
