Allador Stirs: An Adventure in Thesselliss (Pathfinder or AD&D)

The snows are coming, and Allador stirs. In the far-flung, northeastern reaches of the Kingdom of Mir, a lone mountain pierces the skies, reaching up from flat forestlands and dominating the skyline for hundreds of miles around. Called Mount Allador, its blistering heights have ever been a draw for the brave... and the foolhardy. Few dare to settle near the mountain, for in the night it is said that one can hear the mountain's moans riding on the wind. Most who venture beyond the thick woodlands ringing Mount Allador never return, and the locals have long since held that the mountain is cursed, dangerous, or both. For hundreds of years, however, the mountain has lain silent, and some among the villages begin to wonder if Allador's wrath has finally abated. But the snows are coming, and Allador stirs. A great glacial river cascades from Allador's heights, a crystal-clear font of life that gave birth to the mountain's only true village - Reota. With an insular population of about a hundred, Reota has long since been left out of any tax collector's map; excepting the mayor, most Reotan's live their lives without knowing that the village is even the part of a larger kingdom. In Reota, it is believed that one may only be considered an adult after serving the village in some way - whether it is merely fresh whitewash on the tiny local inn, or a pack of wolves hunted for pelts, this rite of passage is overseen and approved by The Mother, the residing herbalist and wise-woman. Equal in power to the Mayor, the Mother's rank is passed down to her nearest female relative upon her death. Though the mountain has slept for longer than any can remember, it yet stirs. In the past months, the ground has roiled like a boiling sea, flame can be seen pouring from the mountainside, and woodsman whisper of strange, squatting shapes scurrying in the shadows of sunset. The people of Reota are fearful - none among them are great warriors or heroes. Potters, bakers, peasants all, the town lacks so much as a militia. The mayor has called a town meeting, inviting all to attend and discuss the matter at hand. The air is thick, and tension is high. What stirs in Allador's depths? SUMMARY This will be a campaign set in the homebrew world of Thesselliss, a setting I've used over the past three or four years. In a world where magic beyond simple light spells and other mundane dwemers is a distant memory, a world carved in two by ancient calamity, Allador Stirs will take place in a quiet corner of the Kingdom of Mir, far from the frozen Beltlands and the great wars of the equatorial nations. You will take on the role of a group of young men and women from the village of Reota who have volunteered to investigate the danger to your village as your rite of passage into adulthood. The game will center around plumbing Allador's depths and discovering/neutralizing the threat to your home, but will expand to encompass a large part of the Kingdom of Mir. If you are interested, please contact me here on Roll20 or email me at WCDeeum@gmail.com with a short 'profile' of your character; race, age, class you want to play, etc... (Try to sell me on the character, basically) I am looking for 3-4 players. We will use skype, but I generally encourage players online to stick to text except during combat, since it tends to help keep people "in-character" and bring a more serious tone to the game. While any character could work for this campaign, I will stress that ones that fit the low-fantasy theme will be given preference if I get a lot of interest in the game. I am willing to run this campaign in AD&D 1e or Pathfinder, depending on player experience and preference. The goal is to create a harrowing level 1-8 experience over the course of a 3-4 month campaign, with low-fantasy tones and a sense of difficulty and imminent danger. There will be tricks, traps, battles you may need to retreat from, and all manner of disasters... and of course, the mystery of what stirs in Allador's depths. SPECIFICS AND TL;DR -Low Fantasy -Pathfinder or AD&D -Games will be played latenights, on Wednesday or Thursdays -3-4 players -I am a Roll20 supporter, so we'll be using the dynamic lighting engine a lot! -Hoping to start the first week of December Thank you for reading! -WC
Sounds great. Wish the time fit my schedule better. But I'll give you a bump.
