Dark Heresy (Warhammer 40K RPG) 6/5 players

Hey guys, I'm curious if people are willing to try a simple campaign I have set up for a group of mine that I usually play P&P games with. The campaign was designed as a brief introduction to the system for one of my friends, and should be completed in a session or two at most. So if anyone's up for it just say. Ideal number for me is 3-5 players, but depending on party composition it may vary. Also, New players are very welcome in joining if they want, as this campaign was designed with a new player in mind. I am not new at GMing for my group, but will say i am "noob" at GMing on here and for other people other than my personal friends. If all goes well, I'll be willing to establish a more permanent group, and GM or rotate with a group on many other games i am familiar with, like Pathfinder, DnD 4th Ed, World of Darkness, Hero System, Warhammer Fantasy, etc. Or even try new systems.
If it's a one-shot session, I'd be interested. Want to familiarize myself with how GMs run things online. Didn't bother rolling stats as I didn't know your rules for it.
Cool, Don't expect too much from me xD as I will be new to the online GMing, For this campaign, I'll be going "by the book" as it were, it will confuse newer players less, than throwing house rules at the start. I will also be taking on board the rule corrections of the errata aswell. So we have a Scum! Let's hope we can get more in on this. :)
Dark Heresy you say? I can finalize my Techmarine and join in, if you'd like.
I would be more than willing to give it a shot!
I'd love to give 40k a try. I'm pretty perpetually available, except for Thursday evenings (GMT-7) and Saturday.
Here's a really easy way to make a character: <a href="http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/dhadvanced.html" rel="nofollow">http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/dhadvanced.html</a>
Awesome, That's 4 that are interested. Thanks Austin for that link, that is certainly a really fast way of creating a character, i've used it a few times. I'd like to know what people are interested in playing as and hopefully set up a time and date to do this. I'm pretty much free whenever, so it's really when is plausible for the players. Once we've done that, I can start throwing any necessary extra info at you guys. Dark Heresy you say? I can finalize my Techmarine and join in, if you'd like. Tachmarine? Are you talking about Deathwatch?. Similar system, but Dark Heresy is where you play as normal imperial guys for the inquisition.
I'm game for this, need to brush up on rules. What time zone is this going to be hosted in?
Well am actually in the UK (GMT +1), but am pretty free anytime to do this. So it's what time can most of the players be here.
Could i get a hands up on people interested, also what timezones you're in and availability so we can decide a day to group up. The Dark Heresy book shouldn't be too hard to get hold of for people currently without it. We can do a session before hand to help any one new to the system and run through basic combat and other actions. to elaborate on a previous post, I am in the UK (GMT+1) and available literally any time until further notice so the time for me is no problem.
I am EST North America. I should be good most any time.
I'm Central time but I don't really do that whole sleep thing too often and my work is event based so I can't give you a heads up on that. I don't even know until a week ahead of time. Other than that, I'm free.
Ok, How would starting at 23:00(BST) sound? That is around 18:00(EST). Currently the days I'd like would be Wednesday or Thursday. Anyone have a problem with these days? We may also need a couple more people interested to get it rolling. I'll give it til Tuesday and we'll try to go with what we have.
So, is this a one-two shot or a longer commitment?
This campaign is intended to be a one/two shot session. If people want, some people like to develop characters further then just two sessions, I wouldn't mind forming a group for Dark Heresy as there is at least a decent interest for 40k related RPGs on this site. But currently, no commitment.
I got a buddy who would be interested as well. Wednesday would be best for us.
As I've said, my Thursday evenings are already filled with another game. Wednesday would be good.
Well I know that I'm planning on being here every time you host.
We have 5, maybe 6! Awesome. Ok, shall we start this Wednesday 23:00BST(18:00EST) for a quick character creation session for anyone new. We'll go over some basics, etc. If you're familiar with the system you can go right ahead and create a character, but still come along for the campaign setup to familiarise some roleplay elements i have for the roll20 system. If you're unfamiliar with Warhammer 40k, I suggest try to find a copy of the Dark Heresy book or read up some fluff on the interwebs, to gain a loose understanding of the world it's in (any questions, just ask). If you're all familiar, we may actually start it off instead. For people creating characters; -character generation is as stated in the core rulebook (including starting wealth,etc.). -I'd prefer to stick to the core rulebook Homeworlds, but if you are familiar with the "Inquisitor's Handbook" i will allow things from that too as long as you run it by me. -Items: keep the items you start with for now, but on Wednesday if you wish to exchange items or obtain new ones we'll discuss how to do so. If you have any questions just ask. Also, Thanks all for participating!
An extra note: I estimate a session to be around 4-5 hours, though my estimations are always off one way or another, due to player interactions and unforeseen consequences (but that ain't a bad thing at all, in fact i, as a GM, enjoy the suprise of something i didn't expect). I'd like to know what peoples' experiences of a "normal" session length. (A while back, my main RPG group did sessions of nearly 24hours! Obviously I won't be doing that. :P)
Thanks for the first session, Josef. Went quite well. Those rolls of yours are quite questionable, though. Maybe send the cultists to basic training next time.
