Tokens

Is there a way to make my token seen but not the back ground. I drew a picture and when i put the token on map, it shows the white square around it.

If you created it on your computer, you would need to add an alpha layer to the image behind your drawing layer then save it as a png. Png supports transparency.

Here's a quick tutorial on how to make a transparent background using Gimp (free graphics editor) http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Transparent-Image-Using-Gimp Have fun.
Ok thanks guys. I will try that.

Thanks Vince, I didn't have the link handy as I was about to go to work. Ben, if you have more questions about how to get something to work on roll20 feel free to post it here in the open topics or in the specific questions forums. Have fun and happy gaming.
Im getting the hang of GIMP. Got my token to be transparent, but when I drop him in he is super small. What is a good size to save them in so I dont have to resize in roll20 Thanks for all the help

That depends how big the picture is. If he looks small, it's because there's too much blank space in the image. That still counts as being part of the image, and when Roll20 resizes it, all of that space is still there. (One thing I can say for sure is that the image should have the same width and height. Rectangular images will come out stretched and awkward.)

280x280 is a good size for token images. The squares are 70x70 and a 280x280 token dropped on the board will have nice detail at 70x70 and still look good when zoomed. Another way to make tokens is with Token Tool, located here: http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=tokentool It really makes token-creation a snap.
Thanks everyone for the info, you guys have been super helpful.
