DnD 4e - would like to learn/play

Hi all! Is anyone out there willing to help me learn dnd 4e? Aside from playing Castle Ravenloft, I don't really know how to play and would love to learn. Also, I wanted to learn while playing and not rely on the books for right now; plus I don't want to spend the money on them until I am comfortable knowing the basics. So, if anyone is running a game and willing to teach I would love to play. Please let me know. Thanks, MV
I, as well as a friend want to start playing DnD 4e, but we have no group at the moment, we only know the very, very basics of the rules :>. We are in the same boat as you at the moment, and would love to see if there was a kind DM out there who could teach some noobs like us.
I'm currently DM'ing a two man group of random sessions with my cousin and his friend. Sadly enough, due to my random job, and my attention loving girlfriend, that is why I am DM'ing random intervals. :P
Is there room for two more (me and Tim)? I'll take any chance I can get, just let me know. Thanks!
I'm in the same boat as you guys. I don't have any experience with tabletop rpgs, but I'm really trying to find a group who can teach me what I need to know. I don't want to spend hours bogged down in rulebooks. If you have room for another noob, let me know. Thanks.
If you are looking to learn 4e without actually playing, you should listen to the podcasts from Wizards of the Coast featuring Penny Arcade. It explains the basics and is pretty damn funny. http://www.wizards.com/dnd/podcasts.aspx
Hahaha, I'll take you up on that. At the same time, I really feel like the best way to learn is to immerse myself into the game. Do you have any advice for finding a group? What site would you recommend for playing online?
Well, I've never DMed before but if you want I can run you through a typical encounter using pregenerated characters and such.
Right now I'm willing to try anything. I want to get some experience so people aren't playing with a handicap. Let me know when we can work things out and thank you.
I am willing to jump in. I'm experience, but it is always good to have multiple sources of knowledge I feel.
Ok are you two ready?
Sure. Whenever you are. How do I join your party through roll20?

I can't join until i get back from work at 5 pm EST. When will you be starting the game?
Also, what kind of role you need me to fill?
Is there still room for us? :D
Is this thread dead?
