Pathfinder round of newb question 6.

Once again I am back with a few more question, I am now at my fourth session and it's going well! 1) 1 party member want to buy a Large heavy crossbow, masterwork. How much does it normally cost? 400$ or 700$? 2) What would be the difficulty check in spellcraft for ID a enchantement of a (Bane spell) on a weapon? 3) 2 of my party member got cursed, I know how to remove the spell (With cleric or a few other method) How much would it cost if they ask a high level cleric to remove the curse on them? And how much time would it take to remove the spell (If any) 4) Can I create a kind of herb (or an exixting one) in a home-brew game, and if the party make an nature check, I tell them that this kind of herb is usefull for mixing some kind of potion (Yes I know, there's a lot unknown factor, but I really want to know if it's possible, or all the potion have already a setting on how to make them with a specific kind of herb or material?) If my party member are watching this, BOOO go away!!! lol. Thank!
ill answer the best that I can, keep in mind the wonderful thing of role-playing is that the game is your own, and I often find that I need to change cost of stuff depending on how much treasure I give out :-p 1) Cost of a "Large heavy crossbow" a heavy crossbow base cost is 50G The masterwork quality adds 300 gp to the cost of a normal weapon (or 6 gp to the cost of a single unit of ammunition). Adding the masterwork quality to a double weapon costs twice the normal increase (+600 gp). When you say "Large heavy" i am assuming you just mean heavy in which case base cost would be 350G ..  if you are making it special and increasing its size category then I would go for the 650 as if it were a double weapon. 2) spellcraft DC for Bane: Base DC for 15 + item's caster level (10 + the level of the spell or effect + the ability modifier of the minimum ability score needed to cast that level of spell) Bane being a 1st level spell, would be  15+10+1 = a DC of 26    3) remove curse cost:   totally at your discretion    a few things to consider.  Its a level 3 cleric/bard/paladin spell and a level 4 wiz/sorc spell.  A wiz/sorc would charge more.  there is no material component to casting the spell.  Vary the price based on the economy of your game, or have them do a side quest for the caster of the spell as "payment" 4) Can I create a kind of herb (or an exixting one) in a home-brew game: its your game , you can do anything you want :)  I think the skills you should look at would be "Craft: alchemy" - to brew the potion -- Spot - to find the herb you are looking for -- Survival - to know what herb to look for and what might be used to create a specific kind of effect. Hope this is helpful, Chuck G

1) 400gp. Doubling the cost applies before Masterwork (CRB p462) 2) To identify the properties of a magic item the DC is 15+caster level (CRB p106). The Bane weapon property (CRB p469) has a caster level of 8 so the DC is 23. Reminder, you use the highest caster level on the weapon to determine the difficulty.  Note: the Bane Weapon property is not the same thing as the Bane spell. You cannot put the bane spell on a weapon (exception: custom magic items). 3) The price for an NPC casting a spell is listed on CRB p159 and discussed on CRB p163. The price is Caster Level x Spell Level x 10 + Material Component costs + 1/10 focus cost. Availability is determined by the size of the city. For Remove Curse you generally need a Small City. 4) Yes, what you want to do here is assign the herb a GP value. 3.5/Pathfinder uses a very abstract system regarding item creation. X number of GP rather than X GP worth of 'item name'. However, if you want to give the players an item worth X GP and tell them it can be used for crafting that is fine.  Knowledge Nature might be appropriate. I wouldn't limit it to that. I would also give Spellcraft a chance to recognize it (albeit, at a penalty). Regarding brewing the potion, Craft Alchemy or Spellcraft are both applicable but in either case the person brewing the potion requires the feat Brew Potion. They will still need the spell to create the potion. Things to consider: Requiring the players to come up with a specific item would be limiting vs the normal PF rules. Not saying that is bad, just saying you should be aware that your players may not appreciate the rules change.  Giving your players the odd item to craft specific items may seem like a fun idea to you but it might be that they were not planning on crafting that item. Be prepared for them to just sell the crafting materials.  - Gauss
Thanks once again!
