World of Darkness, I have never played but am interested.

Anyone around that has played WoD and may be interested in running a one shot with pregens or something? At the very least some discussion about the major defining factors of WoD over say DnD 4e which I'm accustomed to.

Since the first half of your post is LFG I have moved this to the LFG forum. I would suggest for the second half of your post you open a separate thread in the Off-topic forum to discuss the defining factors of WoD vs DnD 4e Also, Im pretty sure someone is going to ask if you are interested in nWoD or oWoD. :) - Gauss
I played nWoD and WtF (New World of Darkness (as a human, otherwise known as a snack, and Werewolf the Forsaken the well... Werewolf vesion...) though I only played one game of each I have a ton of werewolf and a few core sourse books (I liked the system a lot). Unfortunatly the folks I played with decided that they wanted to move after college so I was left with a bag full of books... I would love to play in or even just talk about the system. As to your one shot Idea it would have to be as snacks... I mean... Umm... Humans, Becasue the shadow world types (Werewolves, vampires, mages, changlings, and the like) have a ton of specialized rules that might cause headaches for a new player (they sure did to me). I also would be a terrible storyteller (WoD version of a GM) so don't ask...
nWoD, in my opinion, is much more complicated than the oWoD, if you want entry level stuff go with the original, specifically, go with either Vampire the Masquerade or Dark Ages, Vampire in oWoD has fairly simple rules if you're already familiar with the d10 system and if you have the right storyteller it can be a truly terrifying and interesting game, my first ever chronicle was that our characters were imbraced around year 0 and they storyteller fit history to whatever major events we affected (it was actually a Malkavian who stole Christs body), I'm afraid I can't help you with finding a game, but if you ever have the chance, you should most definitely try any of the games, although I'd recommend avoiding Changeling and Mage if you don't want your head to truly spin
A malkavian is a race? I read  machiavellian and was truely intrigued lol.  I was curious cuz I've heard people talk about it being very streamline and story oriented system, I didn't know changeling was even a thing, but in relation to the dump truck of rules 4e is, I'm confident I could figure it out. At this point I have read a large portion of the core rule book printed in 2004, not sure if it is old or new wod but it all seems simple enough.  I like the idea of playing a snack lol, I kinda had a vision of a campaign plot where everyone plays themselves on the day the zombie apocalypse hits. Telling the story of how this group of people came together and dealt with the ordeal. Now I know RPGs are about being something you can't be, but how many of you have sat around with friends or family, had a drink or two, and talked about how you would handle a zombie apocalypse? Lol
I am also looking for a nWoD group but not many people want to DM and I have no where near enough experoance to DM a WoD game.

Like Kevin, I am also interested in a nWoD game but do not have the experience to run a game.
My favorite tabletop rpg of all times is New World of Darkness. I play with a few friends whenever I visit them, about 4-5 times a year and I sleep over so we get 2-3 days of gaming each time, and it is amazing. Granted we decided we wanted to play fantasy setting so basically play D&D Faerun setting with NWoD rules. 2 guys are vampires and I play a mage. Aaah I really like how streamlined and faster and easier to play than the Old World of Darkness. Sadly I have yet to play with roll20 but will definitivly be game if someone starts a campaign and willing to teach a new guy roll20.
If it was 2004, then it would be nWoD. In the setting of World of Darkness there are about 8 different games in both settings, oWoD has Vampire the Masquerade, Werewolf the Apocalypse, Mage the Ascension, Wraith the Oblivion, Changeling the Dreaming, Hunter the Reckoning, Mummy the Resurrection, Demon the Fallen and Orpheus. nWoD has Vampire the Requiem, Werewolf the Forsaken, Mage the Awakening, Promethian the Created, Changeling the Lost, Hunter the Vigil, Geist the Sin-Eater. Mummy and Demon for nWoD are in the works for this spring and autumn respectively. The differences in the two sets of games are almost completely different in game play, mechanics, and atmosphere. But they are fun if you get one of the systems down pat.
Personally me and some friends play like 4-5 times a year when we all get together. We usually play friday til sunday night. We play in a fanatasy setting. Since the GM is most familiar with Forgotten Realms from AD&D/D&D thats the world we play in. We use NWoD rules with a few house rules(chain mail and up reduces lethal melee damage til bashing for instance, makes a heck of a differance and makes heavy armor really usefull). We find that NWoD works great in a fantasy setting. Altough we play a campaign with 2 vampires and one mage. Campaign have been going for near 2 years now. I truly recomend NWoD over OWod. The rules are far more streamlined and everything feels smoother and a lot faster. For instance in combat you only throw once for each attack(each success is a damage) compared to OWoD where one dice throw for attack, one for damage and another throw for the victim to see how much damage soaked.
Im new in this stuff of Roleplaying but i would like to play WOD. Although i dont know the rules or any thing else, im ready to learn.
The problem I've had so far with running WoD online is that many players of it seem to take issue with A: modified/changed rules for specific types (vampires, werewolves whatever) B: dislike having sourcebooks/powers disallowed and C: Often seem quite intent on trying to pick fights with the biggest kid on the block (which in a way I support 100% since I tend to make them be assholes in one way or another, but it's a horrible survival strategy) As for not knowing the rules, well, that might be a bit problematic since WoD actually has a fairly wide array of them. (in my case, less of an issue, since in most cases I let the players start as mortals)
For me it seems most players expect to be able to start with 5 in most important physical ability combined with relevant combat skill and fighting style at max. My GMs are usually strict on this. I am used to max 3 or 4 in physical stats max and 3 in skill and 3 in fighting style. Also starting as mortal is common in my expeirence. But from what I have read most players would not like that. Then again WoD/NWoD fans are usually fairly hardcore so might explain your experience asaram :-)
Maybe maybe. :) Got a current project where I modify every single "type" in the game as well as create a few new ones, and let people play in the same city, even if they're not in the same group. Sort of an experiment. We'll see how that goes.
