Howdy folks, I'm looking to GM a group of 3-5 people who want to expand on the Monster Hunter International universe (Novels by Larry Correia). I've been GMing for 12 years now, and have run campaigns for many established and homebrew games including but not limited to: DnD (3.5, pathfinder, 4, 5e), Star Wars (many variations), Rogue Trader, 40k Fantasy, Mutants and Masterminds, Shadowrun, Call of Cthulhu and so on. My style of GMing is very flexible and leaves room for your creativity to flourish. Based on preference, this game will be story rich OR hack and slash, it's entirely up to the group. Enough about me, now for the meat and potatoes: Concept: It's all real. Werewolves, Ghosts, Gnomes, The Fey, Vampires, Elder Gods... all of it. It exists, and almost all of it wants to eat humanity as a whole. Setting: A government agency known as the Monster Control Bureau (Subsidiary of the FBI) has the responsibility of ensuring that the Human race as a whole does not have active knowledge of monsters in the real world. “The MCB’s primary mission is to keep the existence of monsters and the
supernatural a secret. The First Reason is the more people who believe
in the Old Ones, the more powerful they become.” (Book 5, Chapter 3) The government has a program in place to pay bounties to people who successfully hunt and kill monsters, it's known as P.U.F.F (Perpetual Unearthly Forces Fund) and pays handsomely based on the considered threat level of a monster kill (Example: Zombie outbreak, 10 walkers confirmed, $4,500 each... or Confirmed Werewolf of age less than 50, $35,000... or Confirmed Possession by demonic entity; possessed individual has use of pyrokinetic abilities, $25,000). The creation of P.U.F.F. has lead to the birth of a series of government funded mercenary groups, the foremost in the United States being Monster Hunter International, owned by the Shackleford family, lead by the renowned hunter Earl Harbinger. Platform: D20 Modern core rulebook, players will not have the option of FX abilities. Though there is a rulebook created (in 2012) for the MHI universe, I'm not particularly fond of it. The D20 modern is a platform I'm more familiar with and leaves a considerable amount of wiggle room for new and veteran players. Schedule: Available times/days for play are 10am-4pm Monday through Friday, Central Standard time (GMT-6). Non-negotiable. Any time before that, I haven't had my coffee and you won't like me. Any time after that, I'm with family and not on here. Saturday and Sunday are for sleeping, food, and for some, religion. Gameplay: The gameplay can go one of two routes, to be decided by the players: 1: A newly founded Monster Hunter mercenary group, to be named by and all facets of business chosen by: the players. 2: A freshly graduated group of Monster Control Bureau employees, with rules and regulations enforced by the government. Each decision has its own merit, as follows: Choosing #1 will allow for much more freedom in hunt selection and overall decision making, however funding for weapons and vehicles will come from successful P.U.F.F. bounties, and the group will, in some situations, be vying for the bounty against another mercenary group. Choosing #2 will be more streamlined, with equipment provided by taxpayers of the good ol' U.S. of A. however there is a strict code that comes with working for the U.S. Government, even if it is a company within the government that is above top secret clearance and infractions are considered treason against the country, punishable by death. Government employees are not eligible to collect P.U.F.F. bounties. Other considerations: Each decision will have it's own panic button for situations above the ability of the group to handle. #1 I will save as a surprise but will be comparable to what's available to #2. #2 is Agent Franks. I won't spoil the fun, but everyone is afraid of Agent Franks, including the monsters and the President. Medium: I'm not opposed to Raidcall, Skype, Teamspeak, roll20 voice, or plain old text based. Whatever the group decides, I'll be more than happy to accommodate. That's all I can think of as far as covering the bases. If there's anything you feel I'm missing or any good fish jokes you can think of, feel free to let minnow. Edit1: Grammar is hard. Insuring vs. Ensuring
