Christmas Holiday game schedule -

Hey everyone! Games might be on temp hiatus until after Christmas holiday more or less. My work schedule has me working most Friday an Saturday afternoons / nights for the next few weeks until pretty much Dec 27th. I work for an event company and we have several holiday gigs these next weeks. But also some of our schedules can change without much notice... so i might be able to be online an home on time for games. I will try an be online if at all possible, and I will try to post on Fridays if It looks like I will be online for everyone. What I would like to do - Instead of completely stopping game play for the holiday , I would like to give everyone opportunity to either PM me, or invite players to be online for Saturdays and talk amongst yourselves about 'downtime' things you wish your characters to do for the time being. If there is something you would like to do as a group, or individual character for the downtime, please send or post me a message reply. Downtime will be a few days in game, or about 1 week of time approx. Also I will post, but I will try to be online Weds nights instead, ( best night for me) and at least do downtime or maybe individual game stuff for anyone who can show up. Thanks for playing everyone! Sorry for the holiday game schedule conflicts. -CHUCK
Im not going to be around tomorrow, Im going to a concert. But I should be avalible for every day, except the 20th, which Im going to a wedding.
Yeah, I will be working all weekend and unable to lead the game Dec-06. I hope to pick back up asap. -Chuck
I will be down and around
I'll be online on the saturdays regardless and if other people show up maybe we can try and discuss some about what our characters would want to get done or goals to set for us during the downtime period. Would be good to try and see if we can come to some conclusion about what our characters would want to do since it's so easy to get sidetracked for better or worse.
So far my schedule is kinda sketchy this week... I'll post if Im online at all for things.
I am going to try an be online tonight - Weds - Dec 10-2014, and maybe do some things with any who can join. Around 6pm or 7pm USA - Mountain Time ^__^
I hope to be online for things this Weds and this Saturday. normal times. Weds for mini-gaming if anyone can be on. And Saturday for normal game. I will update if anything changes. Apologies for the odd schedules, my work and holiday stuff has been very very disorganized and changing a lot due to my work schedule.
Next game Sat Dec 20th, 6:30PM USA mountain time approx.
Last night - Hey sorry everyone, my internet took a poop last night, and I couldnt get back online. Everyone got 2 exp points for the game. Ashial got 1 extra exp point. Next game should be Dec 27, saturday, if people can be on. I can understand if not, due to holiday. I will put together more info on the merchantier starship that was bought. And if anyone has questions please message or post in regards to it.

I have one question, how much would that hyper advanced drive and medical pods have cost?

So 36,000 total. Considering next we're going to Seiren to fully repair and stock up on cargo for some deliveries and how much that will cost, assuming a minimum cost of 11,000 (For repairs, the highest tech level reactor that my manager can retrieve, and anything else we may need such as possible weapons), the official percentages of the ship are roughly 12.5% Ashial, 27.5% Kaimana, and 60% Hideyoshi.
Nah, more like 12.1, 30.3 and 57.6
lol, you've lost me, im not sure what your question is Josh. But - The Reactor in the ship is a Hyper Tech lev Rating 5. Its hidden /camouflaged in the shell of the old reactor. Getting a better will be hard, it is very old, but seems to be very stable and smooth. ( from Kaimana's deductions) (gonna make a new forum post for this.)
im ingame if you want to pop in
Until the repairs are completed and we have armor, shields, weapons, better stuff, etc. :P either way I hold majority over everything on the ship, and thus my word is law!
I really could do with some time just to discuss what we are even doing right now. I feel kind of lost with regards to my characters motivations/plans at the moment. Also I'm starting to feel it that we didn't plan out a crew or anything together. Feels like we are overlapping not only in skills but in some characteristics too which only adds to the confusion for me.

Kaimana is very fun, but hard to keep interested in things as a character, or make character motivation. Not a bad thing, but it is hard. I do not mind pausing things for a little, and OOC discussing things. I think that would be a good idea. Everyone has played together more or less for some time, do people want to pause and make new characters, or really discuss making and putting a crew together etc? I think this would be a good idea, and hopefully make things funner for everyone. I GM things pretty open, and if everyone wants to work more as a group together, and make a solid crew, I think that would be great! Does everyone want to do this? Or something else? Or???? I plan to play Saturday as normal, and we can work on characters, discuss stuff, whatever works. I feel bad that its hard to pull Kaimana along, or other chars also. Please comment how you feel or etc. -Chuck

Also - I have put together the basic layout for the merchantier starship, and it should be the load page for all players atm. I have no issues with some or all players making something new, characters or other, or even discussing " hey lets do this together!". I can also be online to chat pretty much any afternoon this week - in game if needed for things. More or less. Just message me first.
It's not like I'm not having fun though. It's more hurting my the RP aspect of it and I don't feel sure about what my character is any more after having to compromise on things.
I've been wanting to join in, I'm just having difficulty writing Fal up for some reason. Maybe I could provide some assistance, and bring in a fresh character that also has some of the skills and such that you're lacking in? Sorry to jump in and not even be playing.
Jim - In my opinion, You should not compromise on a character, it usually wrecks them... or hurts your fun. Sometimes characters dont work with whatever group or whatever scenario. I'd rather myself ( and Id suggest maybe you do) roll something new. Or we can take next game to work up a fun crew, or toss out ideas on what everyone as players want to do. Id rather set a character away, then wreck them doing things they wouldnt do, or RP. Characters can move into more of a NPC status an things. I do have one question, that I hope you do not feel I've ignored, but what do YOU or Kaimana want to do? I would much rather you have the PC go do what they would, and bench them for now etc, then ruin them. Josh, you can come back anytime, and comments is fine I think. I think I really want to ask - what do YOU all want to do? Players have a ship now, and we can move toward some different things if you like. I have no issues with old players making something new, and the old chars taking a NPC status or moving off to something else OOC.
All I'm looking for right now is a common goal for the group. Like are we going to be pirates, smugglers or bounty hunters? I mean we just decided we had to get off a planet rather urgently and the best option we could think of was to buy some beat up junker that might start and what are we going to do with the ship once we are out of here? If we don't know what we are going to do after we get off Targatis there must have been other cheaper ways then buying a ship.
Sounds like the perfect time to bring Fal into the picture :D

"All I'm looking for right now is a common goal for the group" Well, I don't know about you, but I'm going to try to dig up what ever the old system files in that ship, and to try to discover how the Zeniri got onto that ship, and why. And try to piece together the clues on the ship to start the search of the origins of the ship. And if the group would be so kind to make a detour and let me go space truking around the stars, that would be great! And also, yes! Bring Fal into the picture and save the day!

If we don't know what we are going to do after we get off Targatis there must have been other cheaper ways then buying a ship. Maybe some of the issue is the pace I let the last game night run. Things moved very fast, much quicker than usual. And maybe questions such as the ones that should have been made in character or in game didnt have a chance to be spoken or asked. That would be my fault as a GM, apologies about that... How about this - Now is the chance to basically stop what characters are doing, working on the ship, etc. And suddenly Kaimana or others, are like, "This is crazy! We just bought a junker ship???! What are we doing?? This isnt like me, why did I do this, why did we just do this??" and then "What are we planning to do with this thing? I'm confused..?? Whats going on, what are we planning to do??" or some such thing - Which opens us all up to opportunity to ask those questions and work things out in character in one way or another. I am not sure exactly what you felt you were breaking character and doing? But having done that before myself, done something my character would not have done, I've turned it around in game and righted the error, by straight out saying, "Hey I'm making a mistake, or hey, what are we doing? This is crazy, or etc or whoa lets talk about this. " This can open up the dialog for - "Just what are we doing?" - Does this help? I want things to work for everyone, and not go against a characters traits or characteristics. A ship opens opportunities for Jims great questions - I'm looking for right now is a common goal for the group. Like are we going to be pirates, smugglers or bounty hunters? Some NPCs can also fill roles, though I'd rather had PCs do it. But a ship can also be big enough for more than just PCs sometimes. In addition, though the game moved fast paced, it doesnt have to mean all things were done and considered and carved in stone already. Things sit at - A merchant ship was purchased, and towed near the Lizzy Morblin repair bay ( it wont fit inside). It was powered up, reactor recharched, and an In-System drive engine attached or in the makings of being attached. An main computer was turned on. That was about it in my book. It will take several days or more to be able to safely operate the ship. In that time many things can go on. Plans discussed, money can change hands even more ( many people would be interested in a stake in a merchant starship) , a crew of decent skills should be organized, and an overall goal of what will we do with this opportunity should be formulated.
In regards to operating a ship or finding crew for one. Depending on what the group would like to do with the opportunity - NPCs are great to fill in the extra spots of a crew. ( again I would rather have PCs - but a small crew cannot always handle the 30 hours of ship duty rotations alone. Extras could be fill in for pilot or navigators, or cargo movers, or a gunner or etc. But the group should come up with a plan, on lets do this. Be smugglers etc etc. Then the crew can tailor to those aspects. RIght now the Targatis system itself is a great place for the opportunities to find a crew. Many want to leave system due to the pending hostilities and rumors of war in the system or nearby systems. Also those same rumors or hostilities open up lots of opportunities. Transporting goods and people into the system, or out of the system. Working as scouts or mercenaries. Being mercenaries doesnt necessarily mean the ship itself gets into fights or battles, but the people aboard do. Smuggling or transporting goods in an out of system is big opportunities too, blockades and pirates and coming in system , and people need things, or need to get things off world. Anything is really possible, lets figure something fun out together! ^__^
Yeah, I'm not saying we decide what to do forever and ever. If we get a chance to do something else and it pays well then maybe we do that but more of a idea of what we want to be. What you said Ramrofl I see more as a personal goal then an overall goal for the group but maybe I'm wrong. I don't think it's your fault Chuck it's probably mostly my own fault for creating a character that's so awkward to fit in and I had to change things quite early on which all escalated and now I'm just not even sure anything about the character fits any more I'm afraid. I'll go ahead and blame my own inexperience with tabletop games like this. This was the first campaign I joined here on Roll 20 and I have hopefully figured out what it was that didn't make the character work but it still makes things feel awkward when you're trying to correct a character as you go.
Hey Jim, I haven't seen Kaimana in action(though I have heard the stories!) but something I've noticed about player character development is that they do change. I've DM'd and played in a fair handful of games, and one of them resulted in a DMPC and a PC to change so thoroughly that the entire plot arch of the story itself changed. The two were nothing how they were originally. Granted, that was due to environment changes and the players' ways of coping with it, but the end result was spectactular, if I may say so myself. It actually caused me to want to write a history of the entire world I generated for this one session. Sometimes characters are conflicted -- why am I doing this? This isn't normal for me.....these things need to be rationalized by the character, or bludgeoned through. You'll see that across the board, people slowly change or they remain steadfastly themselves(Look at Josh's Nunnally in our campaign -- she's turning into quite the little killer, and I don't think she started that way. Even Kil is starting to worry, aha.) I need to leave now, I'll let this sit for a bit and maybe post later. I'll think about Fal and write his sheet up with the new ruleset and let everyone see it :)
Well it's different when the change happens in character for example you get convinced to do something or the events end up putting you in a certain situation where that is the plain best option for you. But the changes I have made have been purely out of character to shoehorn the character into the group when my idea of the character tells me to just walk away from it all. Also I'll be sitting in the Roll 20 game chat the next few nights if anyone wants to hang out and talk about this sort of stuff live.
