Yello, I'm straight up new to
playing pen and paper RPGs, so have no practical experience playing,
but I have seen a good number of streams and I do pay attention to
the systems and mechanics they use. I have the Players Handbook for
5E, and I have a good idea of the character I would like to create
and how to create him within the rules, and also how most the basic
systems work, still in the process of reading the details. But anyway, I'm 30 and have a full time
job in the UK, so I'm looking for a game that's played ether in the
evening from 7PM GMT onwards, or on Saturday, or Sunday from 3PM
onwards. I would prefer to start in a new campaign or at level 1 or
2, partly because I'm new but mostly because the character I want to
play wouldn't work if they was already levelled a bit. To give details of the character, he's
basically a human Sorcerer of Draconic Bloodline, but as he starts
his adventure he is training as a fighter (mutil-class to fighter at
level 2, long term if he lives he'll be a Battle Mage of sorts). The reason
for this is because he has no knowledge of what he is, to short hand
his back-story his parents died before he knew them, and the people
the brought him up kept the silver scales on his skin hidden from the
rest of the village and never told him how he got them. They died,
the village found out and thought he was a demon, then strung him up
and tried to kill him, he lost control of himself, blacked out and
froze the village solid. (Reading the class description for Sorcerer
this should be plausible). From that point on he's been afraid of
what he might be, and what others might do if they found out. So he's
been avoiding other people where possible but also trying to find out
what he is, researching magic but never trying to use it, and instead
training himself with a short sword to defend himself with in-case
someone else sees the scales on his skin. (My understanding of weapon proficiency
is that a Sorcerer could use a short sword without martial
proficiency, I would just get no attack bonuses for it). I'm happy to
leave it to the GM to fill in where his power actually came from. But anyway, that about covers it,
hopeful there is a group of GM out there that will have me :) :) Skid :)
