Hello! I am looking for a couple of players who are interested in playing a Mouse Guard inspired, Fate Accelerated one shot on Saturday the 27th, using skype voice chat and Roll20. I haven’t picked a time of day yet (let me know what works for you!), but I’m hoping to keep things around four hours in length, though it would be lovely if people were flexible about going over that time. Don’t know what any of that is? Think Redwall, but with just mice - well, mostly just mice. Fate is a ruleset, like Burning Wheel or Dungeons and Dragons, but with a much more narrative focus. In fact, I am going to make an effort to keep the mechanics as much in the background as possible. Don’t know how to play Fate? No worries! I’ll teach you what you need to play the game, which is, honestly, very little. Fate Accelerated is designed to be picked up and played quickly. The main thing you need to bring to the game is a willingness to get into character, get into the story, and to be the bravest little mouse you can be. You will play a courageous little member of the Mouse Guard! With Spring fully upon the land, trade has opened back up, but no traders are coming out of the sleepy town of Lilmouth, and the few merchants who have gone to the town have not yet returned. What’s more, the people of Lillygrove (a nearby settlement) have reported seeing strange lights in the swamp that separates Lilmouth from the mainland, and rumours of mice going missing over the winter! An old veteran of the Mouse Guard, Musculus (his friends call him “Mus” for short) has been tasked with taking some of the Guard out to Lilmouth to discover what is going on, and to fix whatever it is. You are one of these brave mouse souls! As for the tone of the one shot, I’m looking for cute and fun, with (hopefully) a heroic story frame for brave little mice to be, well, heroes! Here is a character sheet for Musculus, to serve as an example: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eE-yUVGZWDlhlDmaKpNUjdu8zehPAVhbI6nSrJfarC8/edit#heading=h.o0rls2trnwlw And here is Sir Barnabas, a brave mouse who will be adventuring out to Lilmouth: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1a--bDGVeGZK7S_sisU3QHK5xrV0fo8e636zGYoXniJg/edit#heading=h.o0rls2trnwlw And, Everardus, the famed scout: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vkpZ-ZcQ0_4W6bPy3XRsHUID3mOgTdW6Tunzg0j8ygA/edit#heading=h.drlhlfjae8l7 We will take thirty minutes or so to get everyone’s character sheet in order, and then get started. Feel free to make a copy of Musculus’ character sheet for yourself, and set about filling in what you can with your own character concept. If you have no idea how Fate works, but can come up with a couple of statements about what kind of character you’re going to be, then you’re most of the way done! Oh, and feel free to find a picture to use as a token! So again, Skype for voice chat, Roll20 for rolling and tokens, Satruday the 27th, not sure what time, but lasting at least four hours. If you’ve ever been interested in Fate, or a more narrative focused style of game, then send me a private message. Tell me a bit about you, what part of this game appeals to you, and what ideas you have for a character. And don’t be shy if you’re new to the hobby - hopefully this game will be an awesome introduction into what tabletop RPGs are about! Lastly, if enough people are interested, I will definitely consider running the one shot for more people on a different day. Anyway, I’m about to go to a christmas eve party, so don’t worry if you don’t hear from me for a day or two! I’ll make sure to get in touch with everyone before Friday evening gets too late.
