Incomplete Party seeks DM and one to two players for Fantasy GURPS Campaign :: GMT - 06:00 Weekends

UPDATE: Party completed - Now seeking GM Please forgive me if I'm missing any information from the title or in the post. It's been a little while since I've put a thread together on here and I'm trying to get my bearings for everything again. Before I launch into the ocean depths, let me explain who I am, and who we are looking to flesh out this group: My name is George, since I'm sure you hadn't notice. Yeah, I'm slick like that. Seriously though, I've been doing table top games for just over a decade now, starting with D&D 3rd Edition in 2002. Since then I've played in and run multiple campaigns through a handful of systems. GURPS is my favorite mechanics by far, so I'm looking to expand interest in it with some of my local players. Yes, the other two people in this group are also Central Time Zone US, and play regularly in my D&D 5th edition game. Both are very new to roleplaying, and for that reason, I'd like to be on the player side of the table with them for this experience. I myself am a fan of religious characters of all walks of life. From the travelling priest seeking to cleanse the land of illness and restore faith in the gods to the rogue assassin who serves a higher calling, accepting his fate in the hells to serve his people, to even the demon worshiping sorcerer who sees magic as the path to godhood. Second among our group is Kit, very much interested in archery and stealth. From a cat burglar to a bounty hunter, assassin to scout, Kit will enjoy the chance to keep a distance, support the party from the shadows and as large a share of the gold as the party manages to miscount! Third, there is Destin, who is a fan of melee builds. He currently plays a spear wielding dragonborn fighter. He's doesn't play Leroy Jenkins, before anyone gets concerned about that, but he has enjoyed combat and defeating the evil he's crossed thus far. As of today (the 30th) we have picked up a fourth member in our group, Oli/Fishy. Oli is an experienced roleplayer ranging from a handful of systems ranging from D&D Second Edition to 5th Edition, Shadowrun, FATE, and others. From what we've discussed by PM (and he may correct me on this later) but he tends to play good characters ranging in their devotion from Paladin-esque crusaders to Robin Hood inspired folk heroes. All in all, a well rounded group of people with plenty of interest in multiple roles. Note, Oli, Destin and Kit are new to GURPS entirely , so that should be known now by any potential players and GMs. I am willing to help a DM in every way I can and to help keep the game on pace and the rules explained and orderly, but these are new players. I also ask you bare with me while I get used to playing the game once instead of sitting aside and managing the story for everyone else. We'd like to find one, maybe two more people, interested in a fairly high powered campaign. While not looking to make gods, we are hoping to play something around 150 to even 200 points and face challenges beyond local mercenaries. We are open to mature themes in our games. While we don't need a session based on the exploits of "50 Shades of Gray," relationships do occur, and some times evil includes rape, murder, slavery, and torture. No need to write novels on it, but if a villain is evil, no one is going to quit the game over the truth of how twisted some people are. Given that three of four players are new, any power level campaign is open play. No experience necessary from the new players, but it would be greatly appreciated to help move things along. We are looking to have integrated character backgrounds from the beginning, giving us all multiple reasons to assist one another from the start, so hopefully that's something you potential players reading along are interested in, as well. So before I turn this into more than needed, and run off potential DMs or players, I'll cut it here. I believe I've hit on all the highlights that should be here, and if I haven't, please address it so I can add it. Looking forward to hearing from multiple members soon!
Sorry for the shameless self promotion, but my post here slipped to the second page; so, bump.
Three days have past, 37 looks at my topic ( three were my own ).... and not a single person interested in playing with us? This does not bode well in our favor. Anyone... anyone... Bueller?
I imagine looking for a GM is going to be difficult, especially if it isn't for DnD. I've ran GURPS a lot, but I'm currently running a game at the moment.

Woo Hoo! Update above! Also, thanks for the heads up, Tex. I've not seen a lot of interest in most online gaming communities for GURPS. Myth-Weavers has about the largest I've seen, and even there it's about as large as the Pokemon Community. Figure that one out. If something comes up where you're free to run, let us know. We have a full group of players ready to do character creation and get rolling.
Hey guys, I'm the guy George updated his post for. :) Just wanted to poke my head in here real quick and say hi in person. Looking forward to potentially gaming with y'all.
It pains me to see such a willing group of players interested in trying out GURPS but not being able to find someone to introduce them to it. I don't have much time to game these days and haven't for many months now but when I do have the chance to play, nothing but GURPS is worth spending the time on I find. Out of curiosity though, are you looking for a High fantasy or more gritty realistic? Rarity magic? Rarity of other races? Or are setting decisions up to the GM? Are you looking to get deep into GURPS tactical/advanced combat or will Basic combat suffice? Is this to be an ongoing deal or just looking for a oneshot?
Luke, I think we're open to most any of the extremes as far as setting goes. Kit, Destin, and I have been playing 5th edition D&D recently, so high fantasy is a more common experience for them at this time. I think it would be preferred over a more realistic Terran style setting. Magic rarity I would say we're hoping to see all levels of magic, even if they're considered rare. A PC who can actually cast a spell being a oddity in the world is okay, but I'm sure we wouldn't want to see a game without magic. Other races are completely open to the setting as well. Truth be told, really anything the DM wants to make the campaign and run through with new players is open game. I would suggest staying with basic combat, but I personally want to keep called shots as an option. And as for one-shot vs story arc vs campaign.... We're open to a one shot to see if it's a system the whole group wants to continue using. If it turns into a longer a story trying everything out, that's great. I would prefer a campaign, but I'm only one vote among five. I think most all of this is probably better suited to be discussed with the DM in question. Have a chance to find out what the DM really specializes in running to tell what we want to do. A DM with a penchant for military campaigns, other races might be enemies, or great allies against an evil horde. No magic campaign experience? A game where the players are looking to find this ancient power or prove it exists where other races hide from the human folk.
i feel similar to luke. i'd love to help, i even have a perfect campaign for you folks (wild west D&D using GURPS staff mechanics to simulate 6 shooting wands), but i just don't have the ability to run right now, especially at that time. I think it's great that you folks are branching away from the d20 model and into games that are less mini-centric!

Have you looked here? https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/16519/gurps-001 I'm not much one for D&D/fantasy games otherwise I'd be tempted to help since as everyone else has mentioned there's fewer of us GURPS folks.
Kalman: Appreciated, friend. I know it's not the best time to be trying to put together a group, especially a beginner's group with all the young players free from school this time of year. It draws the DMs pretty thin and makes getting off the ground a little slow. Thanks for the bump. Carl: I hadn't checked that group. I actually had tried to stay off the groups listings so far so as to not go to a DM and basically ask to fill anywhere from a half to a whole table on him/her. I'll put some investment over that way, and see what blooms in the garden. Lyee: Well fine! Didn't want your help any how, you post remover!
