Experienced Central Time Pathfinder DM LFP for a Free-form, RP and World Building Focused Campaign

Hey guys! My name's Gray and I've had some pretty good pick-ups from this site, so I'm back for another batch of players- My last one broke up due to scheduling conflicts. The type of players I'm looking for are self-motivated and clever, who are able to play an actual character and not a pile of stats and equipment. As for me, I've got close to ten years of experience with 3.5 and recently converted to Pathfinder earlier this year. The type of campaigns I run are very player driven. I throw out adventure hooks when needed, but it's totally up to you whether you pursue them. I play heavily in the Faerun setting, but it's MY Faerun- the canon is there to serve my purposes, not the other way around. As for availability, I'm always free on Sundays and am usually free on other days past noon- Again, at US Central time. We'll be starting at level two unless the group wants to start at level one for whatever reason. As for class and race restrictions, I really prefer to keep things relatively basic for when I meet players- no crazy races or classes. You will NOT need to min-max; I'm not out to kill you- I'm there to bring you a good time. Finally, I love new players! They are totally welcome in my games- I firmly believe that I can show them the beauty of the game before some other DM ruins their impression of the game with a shitty time. So, if I seem like a good fit for you, leave me a message here on the thread and send me a PM- first come first serve, and I'm ready to play pretty much as soon as possible!
As for class and race restrictions, I really prefer to keep things relatively basic for when I meet players- no crazy races or classes. You will NOT need to min-max; You had me at hello. Been playing 3.5 for over a decade now and my biggest issue has always been how template stacking slowly became necessary among player player bases. I've never understood how aa rogue who still emphasizes in all stealth manages to pick up two levels of fighter specializing and magically grabs a level of ranger to get favored enemy route attached as well. It's playing to the stats instead of the story and is why I've stepped away from most d20 recently. This is, however, what I always stress to my players and would absolutely love to return to the player's side if the table for this game. I'm also central time zone, so that helps in and of its own for me. Liking forward to getting aa game of the ground soon.
I've got mondays, tuesdays, thursdays and fridays open atm, as for the restrictions what types of restrictions are you meaning? Core only?
Basically, yes.
I like that you express the need to avoid min-maxing, while the mechanical side of things can be fun, there most certainly can be to much. That being said building a character smart doesn't have to mean min-maxing. I always think class dips you do should fit your character, as character story is always important to me. ^^ Any who, With so much content out, sometimes it's best to choose what books you accept as useful source material. CRB only? (or is the APG, UM, UC and all that available, just not for classes/races. ) What day/time of day are you looking to play, my availabiltiy tends to be weekdays in the evenings, and Sunday mornings. Saturday is my table-top day and friday's are generally booked for me. -Spazz
I might be interested, as well. Been roleplaying since the late '80s, and I've got ample Pathfinder experience. My availability would be Sunday evenings and weekday afternoons (Tuesday excepted), with the preference for the latter; this assumes the EST timezone, but I can translate things easily enough if that's not an accurate guess. Would we be using the 3.5 Faerun / Forgotten Realms sourcebooks and convert from there, at least for our information on races and faiths? Note, that I have my own preferences on Faerun lore - it's an old favourite among gaming worlds. Specifically, the Spellplague and resulting lore tends to be a source of annoyance for me. Guess that's what happens when you spend some much time in the Avatar Crisis years!
I thought it was pathfinder not 3.5 o.O
Stephen N. said: I thought it was pathfinder not 3.5 o.O Of course - but there is no Pathfinder Faerun material, hence the reference. It's also a super-easy conversion.
Hello there, Gray! How are you? And is this still open? The way you present your role play is music to my ears. It's good to meet another GM that stresses no min-maxing. I will look into Faerun a bit and see what it's like, but a free-from role play with adventure hooks and emphasis on character is right up my alley. I'm Dallas time, btw.
If you decide to play on Tuesdays or Thursdays I'd love to join.
I've decided to withdraw from the game. The basics still sound appealing, but first-come, first-served is just a bad recipe for a compatible group.
Well, I'm able too play during monday tuesday thursday and friday no prob, wednesday would have to be before 1pm.
If you are going to play Fridays or Sundays, I would be interested in playing either a tank, like a dwarf barbarian or something, or maybe a human sorcerer, depending on what the party is in need of... Dan
I would like to fill in a spot if you still have one open. I haven't been able to join a Pathfinder group in a six months do to work. A paladin, sorcerer, or Ranger is more my stride. If your doing it on Saturdays I can definitely make it.
