Shards in Europe

We play quite regularly from Germany and Switzerland and the system works great, but is slow to respond most of the time, supposedly due to the long latency and the number of server roundtrips involved. Are there any plans to run some instances in Europe to make the system more responsive for users on the old continent?
We would love that, but it's entirely out of our hands, as we use Firebase to power those shards. The good news is they were acquired by Google and are in the process of transitioning to Google's infrastructure over the next year. My guess is that they will roll out shards worldwide "soon" as a part of that. When they do, it will be very easy for us to provide better latency to users outside the U.S. As you said, I think right now it is playable, but you're probably looking at 500ms+ latencies instead of the 150ms latency we target in the U.S.
I"m having the same problem, it's definitely an issue for my group, who are spread out across Ireland, UK, Sweden, and Turkey. Sometimes the latency is extremely long, to the extent of being barely playable :-(
