GM LFP Dresden Files Sat 9pm to Midnight biweekly

Hi. I'm looking to start a Dresden File game. I've GMed other systems however this will be my first time with Dresden Files. I would like players are familiar with the books but new players are welcome.
I forgot to mention I'm in CST.
I have very limited experience with tabletop games, but I am looking to expand. And I absolutely love the Dresden Files. If you'd be willing to teach me the ropes, I'd be more than happy to give this a shot.
I may be interested. I'm in MST myself.

I'm willing to teach the system. I would rather players who have read the books but not know the system than the other way around. Dresden files rpg is based on the Fate system for those who don't know.
I have the book myself, though I've never gotten a chance to really play. I've attempted to run it once...but it basically sort of died.
I hate when that happens.
I'm the same book Monk was in, my players didn't know the books and just sort of floundered. I tried to keep it going but they didn't have the passion. I've read all the books (even met Jim), own the Fate books and Fate dice, very interested in this. Please let me know if you have room and how you wish to proceed. Making characters in the Dresden verse is very...team-oriented, so I expect you'll want us all doing it together :)
Yes character creation will be a group activity. I'm planning on fully submerged power level. The game will most likely be based in Baltimore.
I'm current on the books and would love to learn the system. I have experience with other systems, but I've only briefly looked through the Dresden files RPG book.
So, Sean M, Chris H, Chris P, and Monkoflords? Which would be better Sat 17th or 31st?

I could do the 17th just fine personally.
Both are fine for me.
Either date works for me as well. I just downloaded a copy of the "Your Story" PDF; is there anything you want us to know going into the character creation? It seems very free-form from what I've read thus far. Any suggestions to get the creative juices flowing?
Well, like I said, the characters are going to be at the top of the creation chart. That means most choices should be in reach. The thing is, character creation is a group activity so I'm not sure what you want to know. I thought that I would focus the game on the fact that the war has taken almost all of the white council's time and resources and the power vacuum that would cause.
I've played in and ran a bunch of games of dresden locally. If you want one more player let me know. I've read all the books, etc... If you are all full up that's ok too!!
I could probably handle another.
I think I'm available on both dates.
For creative juices, if you're read the books just put yourself in them and try and imagine where you would like to be standing. Anything off limits, Sean? For example, I'm suspecting we can't be a Knight of the Sword, because they're already established :) Are we good guys, bad guys, or "it's complicated"? Are we playing after the current book, or somewhere in the middle, or are we in a world without Harry altogether?
Ok, cool. Definitely looking forward to saturday then!
Harry exists, however our game is based in Baltimore. Our story will take place shortly after summer knight. Knights of the cross and fairy knights are off limits but if you want something similar we can think of something.
I have a couple of character ideas in mind. Both are changelings. One is the chesire cat (which I play every once in a blue moon when I'm not in the GM chair for dresden) and the other is a treant changeling that's tough and strong (concept I've been working on). The power level submerged?
Yes. Either of those options sound fun.
Sounds cool, Bryce. I'm definitely knocking around some fae/nevernever-based concepts myself.
I play whatever best fits the party and the story. Here are 3 concepts I'm rolling with. Let me know if you all find one more interesting than another: Warrington Cheshire Changeling Skills Athletics(5), Deceit(5) Burglary(4), Investigation(4) Alertness(3), Lore(3) Empathy(2), Performance(2), Presence (2) Convinction(1), Discipline(1), Endurance(1), Survival(1), Contacts(1) Powers Flight (as per wings but no actual wings) (1) Greater Glamours (This is how he stands on his head, turns invisible, etc..) (2) Diminutive Size (I’m a cat!) (1) Gaseous Form (3) or Insubstantial (1) – (GM should work out how his power works) Mortal Stunts Cat Burglar (1) High Concept A creation of mortal whimsy and the power of the Never Never Trouble I’m winter’s bitch. Dr. David Spanner Changeling Troll Skills Scholarship (5), Fists(5) Investigation(4), Alertness (4) Athletics(3), Intimidation (3) Endurance (2), Rapport (2), Might (2) Driving (1), Resources (1), Stealth (1), Conviction (1), Presence(1) Powers Human Form (+1) Involuntary Change (+1) Supernatural Strength (-4) Supernatural Toughness (-4) The Catch (Only in my “angry form”) (+1) Hulking Size (-2) Mortal Stunts Mighty Leap (1) Mighty Thews (1) High Concept Troubled changeling trying to do the right thing. Trouble: You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry. Marian Hood (female) Emissary of Power Skills Athletics(5), Bows(5) Alertness (4), Burglary (4) Presence(3), Rapport(3) Conviction(2), Survival (2), Investigation(2) Endurance(1), Performance(1), Scholarship(1), Intimidation(1), Weapons (1) Powers Marked by Power (-1) Item of Power – Robin’s Bow (-2,+2) (Attached Inhuman Speed) Mortal Stunts Acrobat (-1) Cat – Burglar (-1) Stay Close and Keep Quiet(-1) Target Rich Enviornment(-1) Way of the Bow(-1) Sex Appeal(-1) Wall of Death (Applied to bows) (-1) High Concept The Spirit of Robin Hood trapped inside me. Trouble People in High Places don’t like me.
I'm really liking the emissary of power for the Baltimore environment. You'll have lots of enemies in no time.
Very cool. And the examples are very helpful. Reading through the book can be a bit overwhelming. But this clears things up a good amount. To (the other) Sean: Would you allow for a minor talent template with the worldwalker supernatural power?
My current idea is the current wielder of the legendary blade Tizona. The sword of El Cid.
(Why am I the other Sean?) Sounds fun, how did your character come by this ability?
(It felt right. If need be, I can use a nickname to minimize confusion. Some of my friends call me Smac: short for Sean McCarthy) I was thinking something along the lines of him always being sensitive to magic, as most minor talents are even if they have no idea what it means. But by following his "feeling", he accidentally stumbled through a weak point in reality (maybe where a heavy hitter came through not long before he showed up) and wound up in Faerie. If we decide to make this happen a young age, maybe he bribed a pixie with a cookie from his pocket into getting him back to reality. This would lead to a life-long drive to understand the nevernever, a number of contacts throughout and perhaps an apprenticeship of sorts with the pixie who first rescued him.
The true sword (The "real" sword is in a Museum in Spain) being passed down his family line, and he was groomed to use it...though he wasn't keen on his family's goals, so he goes off on adventure.
Lets continue this elsewhere. I'll send out some invitations.

Hey Sean. could we make a stunt for Marian to use trick arrows (say like grappling arrows, minor explosive tipped arrows,) stuff like that? Add a bit more 21st century stuff to her character?
I've sent invitations and created a place to discuss character creation on my campaign page.
It seems like you might be full-up on players but if you have room for one more, I'd love to join. I'm GMing my second campaign of Dresden right now (also set in Baltimore using the Nevermore Case File). Even if you're full, I'd like to hear how your game goes. If you need a character concept for consideration, here's the character I'd like to play: Name: Wil Demink High Concept: Tenebromancer with a Purpose Trouble: Driven by a Purpose, Acting Without a Plan Powers: Channeling (Spirit/Shadows) [-2] Cloak of Shadows [-1] Refinement [-1] (Focus Item) Thanks, man. And I hope you have a great, fun game! Z
