Dynamic Lighting Issue

Hey all, just recently donated because I thought dynamic lighting was too good to pass up. And yet, it has frustrated me beyond measure. For whatever reason I cannot seem to get a token to light up without changing the settings to line of sight. I've tried making the tokens are bright as possible, yet when I switch to player's vision with ctrl + l I find that still cannot see any light, even if the light is literally right next to the token. Is this a bug, or am I doing something horribly wrong? I thought I read all the tutorials properly.

Make sure your tokens have 'has sight' checked?
It works with line of sight, but I'd prefer not to have line of sight, which is the issue I'm having.

If a token does not have 'Has Sight' checked, it can not see any light at all.

You're not doing anything wrong. If you check the box, it does allow you to limit a token's line of sight. It doesn't mean it is automatically restricted. By default, a token has 360º view, unless you set the angle to restrict. Now, why exactly you need to enforce line of sight, in order to use dynamic lighting, is beyond me. My guess, and it would only be a guess mind you, is that it is because dynamic lighting requires line of sight to stop light from penetrating edges on the dynamic lighting layer. In other words, in order for a corner to stop a light from passing through it, line of sight must be enabled in order to set it to stop your vision from penetrating. It's like trying to peer through a corner in your home. The corner stops you from peering through to the next room, thus disrupting your line of sight.

Also make sure your light source is set to All Players See Light . This guide might be useful to you.

Oh, I think I also remember seeing somewhere on the forums, that ctrl-l won't show the light sources unless it emanates from the token itself. I just tested it with Line of Sight unchecked, and sure enough, it was dark. I ensured I had access to a character (to edit, etc.), then rejoined as Player and saw it fine. So, you don't have to have Line of Sight checked in the page options, to allow players to see the lighting, but ctrl-l won't show it properly -- unless, of course, Line of Sight is checked.
