New player looking for short intro on basics of d&d 3.5

Hi, I'm new to tabletop, but joined a campaign. right now I'm sitting in a campaign but I don't understand the mechanics very well so I'm pretty much just sitting in and trying to understand while the GM is playing as my character. I'm having trouble understanding, and am looking for a session with an experienced player to help me get down the basics. Next friday is the next time we meet up, but I doubt I'll be available before that except for the rest of today and saturday. 

Hey! I learned on 3.5 so I wouldn't mind giving you a hand with some of the mechanics if you would like. Give you a run through on the basics and at least give you a better place to stand while playing :)

Hey Chris, sorry I had to sack out. Looked at the clock and realized that I need to sleep in order to work today XD I am home now though, free for whatever questions you might have. If you would prefer I can also Skype or vent, and have access to all of the important books! :3
